How can I stop the Spotify App from taking audio priority?

How can I stop the Spotify App from taking audio priority?

Whenever I open or switch to the Spotify app on my iPhone it stops any audio/music that I am playing from another app. I can’t find any setting in my phone or the apps that controls this. Its really annoying.

Some background: I listen to my NPR station’s morning music show from their iPhone app. From their app you can add the songs to Spotify or Apple Music. I can add the songs to Apple Music without it taking over of what I listen to but when I add to Spotify it stops the music and plays whatever I had previously played or sometimes doesn't play anything at all.

Ive tested this with other apps too and it still does this.

Hey there,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

As mentioned in this Apple Community forum, there's currently no way to control app sound priority on iOS 16. This is automatically managed by the OS for different social media apps.

If your iPhone device has iOS 16 or above, we'd recommend you check Apple's forums for a workaround posted by another user or get in touch with a support agent.

We hope you found this helpful. Let us know if you need anything else.
