How to play songs on individual devices??

Hi! 

May I know if its possible to play songs on individual devices like if lets say me and my girlfriend share the same spotify account but she wants to listen to her song and I want to listen to mine at the same time. Currently what I'm experiencing is that everytime when she plays a song while I'm on Spotify, it automatically becomes a remote for my device and vice versa for me. Is there anyway I can off the remote function or be able to play 2 different songs on 2 different devices?? Ps. Both devices are iPhones 4s'

If  you put one of the devices in offline mode, you'll be able to listen without interruption; but, no, as long as both devices are online you can't listen on more than one device at a time. As far as the remote listening goes, it sounds like Spotify Connect is kicking in, which is designed for that purpose.

But that would mean that I would have to download the songs into my device in order for it to work in offline mode correct?

Yes, exactly. No streaming will be possible in that mode.

what actions do I need to take to split the family account? Do I cancel the family account  and open 2 individual accounts
