Huge delay after clicking play song or adding songs to playlists (iPad Mini)

I've been using Spotify happily for probably around 2-3 years on my iPad Mini without problems until recently. I frequently get these huge pauses of nothingness when I try to stream a song or add a song to a playlist. I thought it was my internet connection but it's been on multiple different setting lately and I still have this problem. It makes searching for new music painful as half the time I'm not hearing any. Any advice? Thanks.

I have a similar issue on iPhone when trying to add songs to a playlist. It happens about half the time, the delay might be 3 seconds or sometimes q whole minute, sometimes it gets stuck altogether.
