Iphone6 - Can't skip songs using steering wheel or center stack buttons

Iphone6 - Can't skip songs using steering wheel or center stack buttons

I just got a new GMC Terrain and tried to play Spotify.  It would play, but when I pressed the "Next" button on my steering wheel, center stack, and touchscreen, the song would not skip to the next.  I tried the same thing with Apple Music and the buttons worked perfectly.  Is this a spotify issue?  Has anyone run into this and fixed it?

Hey @kipley1110! Welcome to the community!

That's not right! Could you try to reinstall the Spotify app and see if that solves the issue? Also, are you using Bluetooth or USB to listen to Spotify in the car? Let me know.

Take care! 🙂

Hi! I am using USB. I have un- and re-installed the app but haven't been to
my car yet to see if it works. I'll let you know!

Hello!  Just an update - reinstalling Spotify did not solve the issue.  I even tried using Bluetooth instead of USB and it does not work.  Any other ideas?

Hey @kipley1110!

Alright, could you try to tap the forward and rewind buttons in control center when you're playing music from Spotify? Let me know how that goes.

Take care! 🙂

I have. Nothing works - I've tried the steering wheel, center stack buttons
and even the Next button on the touch screen.

Hey @kipley1110!

That's definitely very weird! Could you give me the following details:

  • iOS version
  • Spotify version
  • Device name

Also, if you could send a screenshot while playing music from your control center, that would be great! 🙂

Take care!

Hi

I have the exact same problem which is very annoying, especially as other music apps work!
I've deleted and reinstalled, connected via Bluetooth and USB through mini connected but can't make it work.

I'm on IOS 10.3.1 using Spotify premium version 8.3.0.896.

How do I fix this before I move to another app?

Rob

Hey guys!

Let's get to the bottom of this. Could you try this with another Spotify account and another mobile device? Also, does this happen with AUX as well? One last thing, could you try a reinstall once more with these steps? Let me know how it goes! 🙂

Thanks for your patience, have a great day!

Was there ever a fix for this?

No there wasn't. I've tried un and reinstalling Spotify, nothing works.
