Local file sync never completing

Solved!

Local file sync never completing

App Version

8.4.28.1104

i recently had to wipe my phone and start fresh on iOS and am having issues syncing over my local files from the desktop app (Mac) to the iOS app. I have all the local files in a playlist and both the desktop and phone are on the same network. When I enable the download option on the local file playlist on the iOS device, the app gets to work on downloading the songs. However, the progress bar on the main Your Library tab moves back and forth, and the track count in the “123 of 1234” keeps raising. I have 4,403 songs in the playlist and let the sync run for six hours and by the time I killed the app the count was over 100,000. I’ve tried resetting the download button as well as removing the app entirely and starting over to no avail. Any ideas on how to get this to work? Would be really nice if the app could just read the music library synced to the phone via iTunes/iTunes Match instead of having to do this local file sync which has never worked perfectly.....

In trying to get this to work I managed to get the local file playlist to sync over.  The process was as follows:

1. Delete any existing local files playlists from Spotify desktop (Mac) app

2. Delete Spotify desktop app from Mac

3. Delete any files with Spotify in it within ~\Library

4. Re-install Spotify desktop app on Mac

5. Go through Local Files list and ensure none of the Local Files are added to Spotify library (Songs).  This is noticable via the checkmark next to the song (right click and select to remove from Songs)

6. Re-create local file playlist from Local Files

7. Force close Spotify app on iOS

8. Ensure Auto-Lock (Settings > Display & Brightness) is set to Never

9. Plug in iOS device

10. Open Spotify app on iOS

11. Select the new local files playlist and tap the Download option

Pretty convoluted process but it worked!
