Local files not being synced to my iPhone

Local files not being synced to my iPhone

I have MP3 files that I downloaded onto my computer and put into a file on my desktop so that I can listen to them in the Local Files tab or when I put them into a playlist on my computer, no problem. I want these MP3 songs, that are physically on my computer, to be listened to on my iPhone from the same playlist as the one created from my computer. Whenever I open the same playlist on my phone, the song is grayed out and cannot be played. I am a Premium member. Please help! 🙂

Hello! Welcome to the community!

Try the following steps to sync the local files correctly:

- On your iPhone, go to Settings > General > Auto-Lock and set it to Never. This way, your phone won't lock and stop the sync. You can revert it to your preferred setting later;

- On your Desktop, create a Spotify playlist and add the local songs you want to sync to that playlist;

- Launch Spotify both on your Desktop and iPhone while they're connected to the same WiFi network. If Spotify was already open on your phone, force close it first;

- Wait for the playlist to appear on your phone (usually takes a few minutes);

- When it appears, check if all songs are listed (either playable or greyed out);

- Turn on the "Available Offline" switch for the playlist to force sync the tracks and wait until all songs are playable/not greyed out.

Hey, sorry finals week ate all my time. I've tried what you've said on already existing playlist and is still greyed out, will it only work if I create a new playlist? The one I have and trying to get them into is 788 songs long and I don't feel like going through and creating a new playlist everytime I need to sync a local file. Is there another way?
