Local files on computer not playing on other devices

Local files on computer not playing on other devices

Hello,

i've imported a couple of songs from Itunes, they are perfectly readable on my Mac (the one which the songs are saved on). Those same songs appear in grey on other devices (iphone, ipad...) or sometimes don't not appear at all. If it appears I can't download it on my iphone (it says to go on my 1st device, open the same playlist and play the song and it should magically appears on my iphone playlist but it doesn't....).

If i play the song on the 1st device and change the player, it plays another version of the song (the one available on spotify and not mine from my computer) or it doesn't play at all...

How can i play files saved on a computer, not available on spotify by the "normal way", on all my other devices (iphone ipad)?

ps - I've noticed the the files not readable on other devices haven't any sign before their names on the playlists (nor "+" nor "v") -> btw what doesn't those signs mean?

thanks in advance

🙂

Hi there!

First you'll need to put your local files into a playlist on your computer.

Now, open the app on your phone (keep the desktop app open at the same time).

Find the playlist where you put the local songs. They will be greyed out now on your phone.

Hit the Available Offline button on that playlist, the songs should start downloading now.

Hope this helps!

Is that the only way to listne to local files on the iPhone app? THey have to exist as a playlist? Any way to automatically do this? Seems like a lot of work when it should just show all your local files to the iPhone app..

Yes it is. Spotify doesn't have a music locker as some other music apps.

The plus and the check simply mean that you can like or have liked a certain song. This feature is not available for local files.

that didn't work for me. they still didn't download.

still not working for me neither...

😞

You'll need to have the app running on both your computer and your phone.

On your computer: go to your Local Files folder and choose which songs you'll want on your phone. Drag them to a playlist or create a new one.

On your phone: find the playlist where you just put your local songs. These will be greyed out now. Go to top of the playlist and choose Available Offline. The songs will now be downloaded. Remember to keep the desktop app running at the same time.

I've done everything you said but it doesn't work. I have Spotify opened on desktop and on my phone and the playlist is set offline but it doesn't want to download. It is written on my phone that "it's waiting for downloading" but nothing happens.
