My Question or Issue

This started on Thursday, March 9 2023. At first, the app would crash in the middle of listening to a playlist. I would start it up again and the same thing would happen. I tried restarting my phone, but then the app would be stuck on the homepage with none of the images loading, and if i tried to scroll it would freeze. If I tried to go to my library a buffering symbol would appear and nothing would load.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app and all of the things I mentioned previously countless times and every time it seems to work fine for a little while and very soon the problems come back. I have no network connectivity issues otherwise, and the problem does not seem to occur on my desktop app.

Howdy lethal lees, sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with the Spotify app on your iPhone. Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the issue:

  1. Check for app updates: Make sure that you have the latest version of the Spotify app installed on your iPhone. Go to the App Store and check for any available updates for Spotify.

  2. Clear cache and data: Sometimes, clearing the app's cache and data can help resolve issues with the app. To do this, go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage > Spotify > Offload App. Then, reinstall the app from the App Store and log in again.

  3. Check for device updates: Make sure that your iPhone is running the latest version of iOS.
[ The latest version of iOS and iPadOS is 16.3.1. ]
Go to Settings > General > Software Update to check for any available updates.

  4. Disable hardware acceleration: Some users have reported that disabling hardware acceleration in the Spotify app can help resolve issues with the app. To do this, go to Settings > Playback > Disable Hardware Acceleration.

I hope this helps you resolve the issue and get back to enjoying your music on Spotify!

Keep me PUPdated,

Hi Prague, thank you for your reply. Unfortunately I've tried what I could from your suggestions and they haven't worked. I haven't seen any app updates available in the app store. I've tried a clean reinstall wherein I offloaded the app, but that still didn't fix the problem. I've now updated my phone to 16.3.1 but the problems persisted. I tried to disable hardware acceleration, but when I went into settings and playback I couldn't find that option anywhere in settings.

Hey @lethal_lees,

Thanks for reaching out and kudos for the troubleshooting you've done so far.

Would it be possible to test if the issue persists when using a different account on your device? If not, and you've added a substantial number of new items to Your Library recently, we'd suggest removing some to see if that makes a difference.

Let us know how it goes.
