My Question or Issue
While using the spotify app on my phone most songs keep stopping at either 9, 10 or 11 seconds (very rarely stoping before it gets to 9 seconds) and they won’t play again unless i switch to another song multiple times and sometimes not even then. Today ( 16th august) it wouldn’t play a song at all.
I’ve had spotify premium since i think 2015 or 2016 and i’ve never had this issue before. It really takes from the experience of enjoying music if i have to skip and replay songs all the time. I am surely not paying for THIS every month and i would not like to stop using spotify because i really like it, but i can’t keep doing this.
I’ve tried playing songs on the web player and it works fine except one song that cut out around the 11th second and then continued on playing.
I’ve seen a lot of people report this issue and the first one happened YEARS ago so i don’t understand how it hasn’t been fixed yet. I’ve tried logging out, uninstalling the app, deleting saved playlists, clearing cache and playing songs offline but nothing has worked yet. I’ve tried different wifi’s and all the things for spotify in my phone are turned on.(i’ve basically tried everything that you have recommended for other people and it still doesn’t work.)
I would really like to find a solution please. 😞
(I would like to post a video of the problem but i won’t let me upload anything bigger than 5MB that isn’t a photo)
Hi there @terry_liomveed,
Thanks for reaching out to the Community and welcome!
We're sorry to hear that your experiencing this issue. It seems to be intermittent and it doesn't impact all users, so it's hard to pinpoint what the root cause might be and that's why we have to troubleshoot each case individually.
Just to confirm, did you follow these steps when reinstalling the app? Those are for a clean reinstall, which is more thorough than a regular one.
Additionally and if possible, could you try using a different mobile device (preferably another iPhone) to see if this behavior persists there?
Lastly, you can upload the video to another platform, like Google Drive, and send us the link.
We'll be on the lookout.
No solution, but wondering if others found a fix. I have this problem at work using WIFI. It used to work fine for years, but a few weeks ago the 10 second problem started happening.
When I use cellular it works though, so something with the work WIFI. I asked the IT at my work twice if Spotify is blocked and both people said no, so I'm stuck...
Hey @Username1984,
Thanks for reaching out.
That sounds like it's indeed related to the network. Could you let us know if that happens in both the app and the web player?
Keep us posted.
The web player does work on the wifi at my work using Chrome on my Iphone SE. But if I use the Spotify IOS App, it doesn't work. The Iphone won't let you play Chrome in the background, so the web player is not very practical for me.
Hi @Username1984,
Thank you for your swift reply.
By any chance do you know if your work network uses a VPN?
It is also a good idea to connect your PC with an ethernet cord, instead of using WIFI.
Let us know how this goes.
Hey there @Username1984,
Thanks for getting back to us.
Since this is only happening with that particular network, there must be something in it interfering with the app, but we can't know for sure what might be.
In this case, we suggest using the Offline mode if you have Premium, or using mobile data.
If you need help with anything else, just let us know.
