I've been having the same problem and have also just recently upgraded to Spotify Premium. When I uninstall and reinstall the app, the app will work fine for some time, but then it randomly stops working. This is the third time now I am having this issue.
I'm having the same problem. Premium member too, using an iPhone 4. Here's what I do to get the error:
1. Open app
2. Select song
3. Song title and album art appear, but no track time in the slider below the back/play/forward buttons
4. Exiting Spotify, double clicking the Home button, and shutting down Spotify gets it working again--for one song. When that song is over, it goes back to doing nothing.
I've tried deleting and reinstalling Spotify, and the problem persists.
Note--Spotify still works great on the two desktops I have it installed on, including my home PC.
Just tried that--changed it from Normal to High. It didn't work--tracks still don't display a time or play.
FYI, I've got iOS 5.1.1 installed. The probleM started this week, and I don't recall changing any settings. It just stopped playing.
As I said before, Spotify works like a champ on my desktops and iPad. Totally worthless on my phone. Any other suggestions?
I have the exact same problem on my iPad. It came out of the blue and I cannot find any solution to it.
@Spotify: Please do something about it.
Asked for help on Twitter. Rebooting phone suggested, but I didn't go that far--I just powered it down and turned it back on. Works like a charm now.
im using the 30 day free trial and when i go to my ipod to listen to music, i can only listen to it if it was synced for offline play and right now im not offline. and when i search up different tracks, it says only spotify premium users can steam music on demand. i thought i already subscribed by using the 30 day trial
Hey 🙂
What is your current subscription status if you sign into your online overview?
If it says you have premium and you are not getting it on the mobile application, try logging out and back in again.

it works fine on the computer. i tried logging out and back in with my ipod and it will only let me play my offline synced playlists. i can add tracks to a playlist and then sync them for offline play, its the only way to play the music on my ipod. if i turn the offline switch off, then it just tells me to listen to the radio, along with whatever i search up without adding it to a playlist
I just recently got my iphone 5 and i installed the spotify app, i used up the 48 hour free trial and i decided to go with Spotify Premium, but when i try to listen to the tracks on my playlist it tells me " Only Premium users can stream on demand. Radio is always free". I already paid for the Spotify Premium, why isnt it letting me stream music on demand ? Has anybody came across this problem ?
I had a network drive that was not connected in Spotify. Once I mapped it and re-started spotify on my desktop music could again play over the speakers. Make sure all your music sources are accessible!
