My Question or Issue

Since the new Spotify updates the group session feature is horrible. You can no longer scan a code to join and once you do join you can no longer choose to listen on the same device as the host or your own. It automatically plays on your own so if you’re in the same place both peoples devices are playing music which is super annoying. This also means if a participant gets a call the music stops for everyone even if they’re in different places. It makes absolutely no sense at all. The group session feature used to be the one of the best features of Spotify and now it’s basically unusable.

I must agree here. Plz revert this. The last few parties were a pain.

The only way to get a similar feature now is, if you let people join the same wifi, then let them join on the receiver / streamer device where spotify gets played. And if there is some **bleep** who always skips songs, you can't kick that one out anymore, as he may just join back on the device. It's horrible.

Not everybody uses bluetooth speakers man. And the old group session with the code allowed us to easily and quickly share, manage and join a session on a device that does not need to be in the same network.

This is not really a solution. It's been over a year since this post was made and it's still broken. I'm going to switch platforms and take my friends with me eventually.
