My Question or Issue

When I get the “watch this ad to get 30 minutes of uninterrupted listening” ad, I am too often not getting a full thirty minutes. At first I thought I was just thinking it was shorter than in reality, but now I’m sure I’m not. For example, right now I’m listening to music and I watched an ad for the thirty minutes, listened to four songs and now am getting more ads. I am certain it has not been thirty minutes. Occasionally I will get the 30 minute ad and immediately get more ads after I watch the first one. And with the “press this button to get 30 minutes of uninterrupted listening” it sometimes says that the link isn’t supported. It doesn’t happen very often, only two or three times, but it’s very annoying especially when I’m trying to go to sleep.

Positive it is much less than 30 minutes.

Live, love, laugh and listen to music 🙂

Only occurs on my Samsung android cell; the only device I use for Spotify. No one else close uses Spotify.

Hi @wc0921,

Thanks for your reply.

To get the 30 min uninterrupted playback you need to keep the video ad in focus and you have to make sure not to navigate to another app, browser, etc.

It's also important to be careful of accidentally clicking the "No, thanks" button when prompted to watch the ad.

If you need help with anything else, just let us know 🙂

I understand, appreciate, & follow those common sense rules you describe. Still frequently don't get 30 minutes ad free listening following listening to the ad which carries the promise. I live with it but lose trust in Spotify as a result.

Hey @wc0921

Thanks for getting back to us.

Could you let us know the rough date and time when you were experiencing this?

Also, sending us the exact make/model, operating system and Spotify version of your device would come in handy.

Keep us in the loop.

This has been getting more obvious in the past week - 6/21-6/29.

My device is a Samsung SM-J327V, version J327V.01 cell phone.

Spotify version is 8.6.36.1070.

I’m having the same issue with my phone 12 I watched the video to get 30 minutes of music 2 songs ago and I was just interrupted by 3 ads while writing this.

I also have this problem I get one or two songs and then get slammed with 3-4 ads and never get the promised 30 minutes of add free music, and it has become a serious problem for me. I also get about 5 minutes of podcasts before I am interupted by ads on my desktop PC and that too is really annoying idk if that's a problem or not

after the 30 second ad I listen to one song and then another ad popped up.

2023 and I still get ads every 6 minutes. I dont skip, I dont navigate away from the app.

Enjoy the extra money you make of me Spotify? This is probably not a bug.

I also have this problem, it's so funky, I'll get the 30 minute ad free listening ad, then 2 songs later, get 2 more ads!!

I used to be able to listen to Spotify in the background while using other apps and it would give me the full 30 min. Now I almost never get the option for that, and when I do, it does not give me the full 30 minutes even when having the app in focus. I am also using a Samsung phone.

  • It plays ads says I'll get 30 minutes of Ad Free Listening...within 1-3 songs plays more ads. This happens constantly all devices. This is Flase Advertising about your Advertising.

We the Free plan user do "pay" with our attention ehich os how you make money and monetize your platform. Spotify contunually plays more ads and less music, and makes false claims about theirs Advertisements.

They offer no support other than a community forum which is not effective or payed attention too.

Spotify fix this issue or be subject to class action suit for false claims and Advertising, from your Free customers.

2 songs and then a full video ad. I never get thirty, lucky to get 15 these days. I close the app mid-ad every time  and am done using for the day after it happens. It's happening almost every time now. I'll likely delete Spotify and forget about them, again. Until I get premium for free when purchasing something else, also again.

Not a bug and they're making less when I delete for that reason.

To be lied to in such a blatent manner is unexceptable. Hope you stand up for yourself and bounce.

Has there been a policy change regarding 30 minutes of uninterrupted music? I can't afford to upgrade to another program and I had been using Spotify for listening while working remote. Hopefully there is a comfortable solution  for me.
