Offline albums won't open

Offline albums won't open

Today spotify on my iPhone would not connect, for whatever reason. No big deal, I thought. I'll play the albums I've saved offline. I tried to open those albums, however, and was presented with a loading screen. The offline albums would not open. I tried opening and closing spotify. I tried switching to offline mode. Nothing. Once I got home, connected to wifi and signed in, I could then open the albums.

 

What is the point of having offline files if I can't access those files when something goes wrong with my connection?

 

Edit: Just tested out a few things:

 

I opened an offline album on wifi, and then switched back to 3G. Spotify again couldn't connect. I went to offline album and it opened. Fine. Then I went to another offline album. It wouldn't open. Am I missing something here? Are offline files only available offline when they've been recently cached?

Sorry to hear this. Does a reinstall help at all?

I have notice that aswell, But if I look in under "tracks" I fond all the songs from the album I like to listen to, and from here IT is posible to ålat them. Probably a bug, fixed in next update...

I am getting the same issue.  It is a real pain and not consistant.  Spotify is online when I go into an area with no signal and sometimes I can access the offline Albums and sometimes I can't.  Even if I put Spotify in offline mode it still tries to connect.  Most of the time, I can access those albums via the Songs list but again not always!

 

Needs sorting..

I'm having exactly the same issue and was just searching around hoping for a fix. Super annoying.

I have been unable to test whether this has been fixed or not. I've had a stable connection since... But today, my entire library of songs has disappeared from my iPhone. They are present on the desktop, however. I'm tired of jumping through hoops to make your software function. So, either give me reason to believe this won't happen again and refund my month's subscription or I shall leave your service. I think you have made great progress but this "offline" service is too volatile. I don't want to spend money on something you cannot guarantee will work. I'd rather spend my £10 per month elsewhere.

Ok, so uninstalling spotify and reinstalling it has made my music reappear. Great! Or not, now I have to redownload every song all over again. And I was without any music tonight (save what I had (smartly) saved to itunes). I want to know how this happened. And I want reassurances that it won't happen again. You can't charge money for an offline service that **bleep**s itself twice a month.

Just to add, I now have duplicate albums on my iPhone. The same same albums are appearing twice. I feel like pointing out any further flaws would be a waste of time because clearly you were all drunk when you programmed this. Try harder next time? I seriously don't know what to tell you. I feel embarassed having given you money for this service. Disgraceful.

Same problem here. Long time subscriber and really frustrated. I love Spotify but will not pay for a service that does not work. I am willing to wait 1 more week for a software update. Beyond that, I will be forced to cancel and move on to something else.  

I've had the same problem, use it across a couple of devices and all will only play one album when in online mode, I just get that loading screen.

 

i found just quickly making the album unavailable offline, then available worked a treat for all albums.

Same problem! Songs are available offline but not in the menue artist or album.

At the programmers: FIX IT.

I am having the same issue, my playlists work fine but any albums I have (which is virtually all my music!) are unavailable except for the one I was already listening too.  They come back to life once in Wifi mode again. The only reason I use Spotify is for the offline mode. If that doesn't work I can see no point keeping Spotify at all it and will try something new soon

A software update came out since I posted. Did not fix the problem. Switched to Beats and am going to cancel Spotify. I like Spotify and think it is a great product. However, I will not pay for a broken service . 

I also am having the same issue with albums not opening on offline mode, only the tracks appear in the songs category.

 

I hope there is an update which fixes this soon?

I just cancelled my premium service. I switched to Beats. They give a two week trial. So far, I like it. It works and Spotify does not. How many paying customers will Spotify have to lose before they fix their broken app?

Same problem for me, completely deleted the app, reinstalled, re downloaded the albums I wanted, worked fine on my way to work, by the time i got back on the train, that same image of the three dots loading my Prince album. Prince of all artists too. There seems to be absolutely no urgency from Spotify to fix this, oh, but my £9.99 payment went through without any trouble.

 

FIX IT PLEASE!

Yes, I agree, absolutely no sense of urgency to fix the problem. Tech support is useless. The app is broken and needs to be fixed. I cancelled my service this morning and hope others do too. I really liked Spotify and thought it was a great product. I was a paying customer from the beginning here in the States.

I am experiencing the same issue. I have tried a reinstall but it doesn't change a thing. I am a recent subscriber. Is this something that happens frequently? Does Spotify sometimes addresses customers issues? This is quite disappointing, I am considering switching back to Rdio.
