Playing songs not on playlist every time

Solved!

Playing songs not on playlist every time

Hi all,

I've searched this topic, and while there are many results, I have not found a satisfactory answer or solution.  I created a playlist of the Hamilton soundtrack.  Great musical, if you haven't seen or heard of it.  Anyway, there are 46 songs in the soundtrack.  And I want to listen along to the history, to the hip-hop, and to the emotion in the story.

However, every time I "Shuffle Playlist," it'll start with my Hamilton songs, but several songs in, it'll go to other songs.  Granted, they are other songs sung by members of the cast of Hamilton, such as Leslie Odom Jr and Jonathan Groff, but they are songs from their previous musicals.

Is there no possible way, with my free Spotify phone app, to only play my 46 Hamilton songs? I'm okay with the fact you can't choose a specific song, and I'm even okay with the ads every now and then.  But all I want is to just play my soundtrack without other songs butting in.  And when the random songs start to come, Spotify follows that trail of breadcrumbs, and Hamilton is heard no more.

Any help is much appreciated. Thank you for your time!

Sincerely,

Confused Spotify User

Hi @PleaseHelpMe5, welcome to the community!

This Hamilton soundtrack is really great, I didn't know it. Listening righ now here 🙂

Well, about your confusion:

On mobile, you get ad-supported, shuffle-only access on compatible devices. This means:

  • You can’t stream specific songs on demand, and you’re only able to skip a track 6 times per hour.
  • Sometimes you'll hear a mix of similar tracks from other artists to what you're playing.

So yeah, you'll have to deal with some tracks butting in every now and then 🙂

I hope you can try Premium soon. Let me know if you need further help!
