Hi,
I have had an issue for a while and now its really begining to get annoying.
Description:
I will be listening to a playlist and it will stop playing at the end of a track. The screen shows track that has just played with the progress 'dot' at the end of the line and the end time displayed. The play button is showing the pause (II) icon but it doesn't move onto the next track. If you press the forward arrow then the next song in the list begins to play. Sometimes the playlist stops and the next track is shown on the screen, the play button still shows the pause icon but the seconds aren't ticking up and its stuck at the beginning of the. You then have to click forward and then bakwards arrows to get back to the track and it will play. A few songs will play in the playlist and then the same issue will occur again. Not handy when your driving or in the gym and the playlist just stops and you have to fiddle with the phone to get it working again.
An important note:
This issue only seems to happen on playlists that have local files and also songs that are on Spotify mixed together in the playlist. I believe that the fault happens when the playlist changes from a local file to a spotify track or vice versa. On testing it doesn't fail everytime it switches between the two, but theres definitely a link there. The playlists in question that this happens to are also "offline"
So...
Offline playlist
Local and spotify tracks combined in the same list.
My iPhone:
iPhone 4
Device’s Operating System
7.1.2
Is your device jailbroken?
No
Approximately how many playlists do you have?
About 120
Approx 20 "offline"
My mobile Spotify version
1.8.1.8
My provider and country (although not really relevant)
Vodafone - UK
Please can you look into this Spotify?
Thanks
Kam
Am I really the only person having this issue?
No I have a similar problem now.
I used to have the problem that spotify would stop when screen locked but that was because my battery saver was turning off data when screen goes off. I corrected that and it was fine for a while.
Now however, the last couple days, my playlist will top, and when I look at the screen, in place of where it used to list the current song, along with the play/pause buttong, it just says 'suggested song'. No song plays, it just sits there. Nothing I press will start music playing again.
This is a terrible issue to suffer while driving especially.
Matt
Im still having the issue regularly.
As soon as I add a local track to the playlist, the problem starts. It'll play through the list fine until it gets to the local track. It'll play the local track and then stop. I then have to press fwd to get to the next track. If I then click back it'll play the local song.
This happens almost everytime so should be easy for Spotify to fix, but I dont see any interest from them
😞
I'm am considering deleting spotify. There seems no way to contact tech support. My issue seems to be part of their effort to drive users to premium.
Nope, no response from Spotify at all.
I can replicate the fault every single time, so I dont know why Spotify are not interested. Its easy to replicate....you just put a local file into one of your playlists and then when it either trys to play the local track in the list the playlist will stop, or it may play the local track but then it'll stop at the end.
Its massively annoying, the fact that the issue is there, but equally that Spotify haven't even bothered to reply.
I'm having the same issues. Normally I play music from my Favorites list online, but I used up my internet bundle so I had to download the complete list for offline mode. However, that's when the problems started and usually it only plays one song before stopping at the end of the song. Pressing stop and play again resets the song, but it will stop again at the end. If I'm lucky it will play about 2-3 songs before stopping again. Fiddling with repeat, shuffle and pausing between songs doesn't help.
Normally, music keeps me going, but now I have to stop each time for a new track. (which is highly annoying when you're riding a bike for 40 minutes). When I'm at work, I play mucis from my PC without problems, but there the music is streamed instead of saved locally.
Also, under "Help", there is a topic about Spotify stopping playing after each track, but its a blank one, you only see the buttons for Twitter and Facebook.
Device:
HTC one
Software is up-to-date
And yes, my favorites list is longer than 3 songs.
Sounds like you are having the same issue yes. Hopefully more people will post here and then who knows Spotify may even pay some attention, but if so far is anything to go by then I doubt it.
I have the same problem too - it suddenly decides to stop playing tracks from a given playlist and sometimes pressing the play/pause button corrects in and sometimes it doesn't and it just sticks.
AND it doesn't play all tracks in any given playlist (I'm a free user, not premium so it's always on shuffle); it only plays the same few tracks, not all of them.
Same problem. Have had it for a couple of years now. I've tried deleting the app to redownload the offline music - same issue although on different random songs. Tried switching the bit rate to force a redownload - same deal. Super annoying considering it's been an issue for so long.
A ~4 year recurring issue. I have this issue too. happened 4-5 times in a 30 minute period. A fix or response would be nice.
I have the same issue. Offline playlist, so not a connection issue. Playback stops randomly either at the end of one song or at the beginning of the next. If it stops at the end of a song I can just chose the next song and it starts playing. If it stops in the beginning of the next song however, I need to slide the song duration slider for that song to start playing. Tapping play does not help, and next song would of course result in skipping that song. This happens maybe every other song, really annoying.
Same issue here samsung galaxy s8+ I have plenty of data so I always streamed, but then I had a holiday so downloaded my favourite playlists. I'm just going to go back to streaming, but this really shouldn't be an issue in a paid for app especially if multiple people are having the problem over a long period of time. It's annoying because I like to travel it'd be super convenient NOT to have to download my music again each time.
Also really unprofessional that there's no response to this.
I have a similar issue with a Galaxy S7, the playlist just randomly stops at the end of a track, then I have to close Spotify and wait for a while before I can use it again.
I have the same issue and have done for years. I’m currently on a premium subscription using an iPhone 6S on the latest version of iOS. It appears to be related to moving from a streamed song to an offline song or vice versa, but it’s not easy to reliably reproduce. Once the issue starts it usually persists for some time and can’t necessarily be fixed by reinstalling Spotify, rebooting the phone, etc. I’m seriously considering ditching Spotify and moving to another service which is a shame as I love everything else about it and have created many playlists, etc.
Also have same issue with iPhone X
started when I upgraded my phone from an iPhone 6 and imported my Spotify playlists
Music stops 1 to 3 seconds from end of track
really annoying
I'm having the same problem. Incredibly annoying when I'm trying to do work.
