when starting a radio playlist I get weird behavior while connected to a device via Spotify connect.
If I play the radio on This iPhone it plays as expected all tracks in order.
as soon as I activate Spotify connect it starts skipping tracks. Sometimes it only plays two tracks in the radio list.
also, when Spotify connect is active many tracks have to be clicked loads of times before they start playing. Between 10 and 35 times is the usual amount of clicks before it switches to the track I’m clicking.
and again, if I switch back to playback on This iPhone all problems disappear.
The device I’m streaming to is a Chromecast Audio. Playback has worked before, I believe I first noticed the error in the beginning of December 2022.
I tried streaming to my Denon receiver just now and the same problems occur.
please advise.
edit: I have uninstalled thoroughly following the guide here. Cleared cache from Spotify settings, offloaded app, uninstalled app, rebooted and waited 15 minutes and finally reinstalled Spotify

Hi there @Oizo123,
Thanks for reaching out. So does this behaviour occur with any device you try to control via Connect? Does it happen only when the iPhone is the one controlling the playback or from other devices also. Please also test if the issue persits when the devices are connected to different networks. If needed, you can make a hotspot with your phone, connect all devices to that and then try again that way. Please send us this info and a video recording ot the behaviour and we'd be happy to investigate.
Keep us posted.
Hi Joan!
Late reply sorry!
So I tried two different iPhones, same behavior with both of them.
This occurs when streaming to the Chromecast Audio and to my Denon receiver.
attaching a link to the video uploaded to YouTube:
Tried setting up a new network, same problem.
as I stated before, this is a fairly new problem. I have been using the radio functionality for a long time and have never had problems.
thank you for assisting!:)
Hey @Oizo123,
Thanks for getting back to us, we really appreciate the effort you've put into describing the issue and the troubleshooting steps you've tried.
Since we weren't able to recreate this on our end, is it possible to test if the same happens when switching playback between the two iPhones or between your iPhone and a desktop device?
Thanks again for your help!
Hi!
no worries! Hoping to get it resolved so I can playback like I’m used to! Appreciate your assistance!
i tried using my MacMini as target for Spotify connect and I experienced the same problems. Link to video.
you can also notice how it briefly shows another cover art before jumping to another for playback.
edit: Tried casting from Plex to the Chromecast audio and there are no errors like the ones in Spotify. If that is useful for debugging purposes.
