My Question or Issue

If you search for "The ava song" the results are missing the song called "The Ava Song" by Francis Dunnery.  If you search for "The Ava Song Francis," the result shows up, but it should also show up under the more general search.  The same thing happens on the desktop interface.  There is either a bug in the search, or some results are purposefully left out for some reason.

Hey @dhuber

Thanks for getting in touch about this and welcome to the Community.

Keep in mind that the search results you're receiving are influenced by the country you registered on your account, your personal listening preferences and popularity. That's why you might not find what you're looking for without entering more details.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback with us and will make sure to pass it onto the right team, as we always strive to improve your experience.

Hope this clears things up. If you need a hand with anything else, the Community is here for you.

Thanks Eni,

I am registered in the US.

I understand that you might get different results for different countries,
but instead of getting a song that was actually released by a known artist,
the only result with the actual title "The Ava Song" is from a guy who
records songs that just repeat a given person's name.

Your response does not really justify the result that this search is
giving. If I search for "The Ava Song" and there is an actual song called
"The Ava Song" on a released album, any reasonable person would expect that
item to be in the search results (preferably right at the top). The fact
that this is not happening is clearly a bug or a design error in the search
algorithm. There are many less relevant results to the search that are
returned that are not called "The Ava Song," including items that seem to
have no relevance at all. For example, the 3rd result in the list is "The
Sam Song" and #7 is "Available" which is truly incomprehensible.

For example: I am looking for piano music by the composer Amy Beach.

So I search for: "amy beach" piano music

Within the first 10 answers I am  getting crud like:

- Piano by the Beach

- Relaxing Piano Music with Ocean Waves

while there are definitely dozens of Amy Beach albums on spotify.

The level of stupidity in this function is astonishing and infuriating.

Computer Science 201 students could do better because they have been introduced to "Requirements" by then. As a s/w dev since the 1980's it is hard for me to accept that we have gone so far backwards in that time.

It rather feels like some sort of deliberate policy, because nobody could that stupid, right?
