Hi,
I have an iPhone 4s running IOS 7.0.4 and running spotifz version 0.9.3.212. Some songs play fine in my playlist but others are "playing" but there is no sound. Like I said this happens on random songs. Inheritly, when I try to play the song that is malfunctioning online using the phone (going to the artist's page) the same problem occurs (probably because spotify is trying to play the local file).
Any idea what's going on?
thanks for your help!

I was having the same problem with the spotify app on my phone...every time a song changed over I would lose the audio but the progress bar showed the song was, in fact, playing. I may have found a work around by going into settings and setting a 1 second crossfade between songs. So far I've played through a few songs with no issues. It's not an ideal fix but seems to be going ok!
Thank you Demisemd for fixing (hopefully) the sound issue on spotify. I changed the crossfade to 1 sec and so far so good. Such a simple solution. Ta
Settings > Delete cache and saved data worked for me.
This is most likely caused by corrupted files in your Spotify cache. Could you try a clean reinstallation and then resync your content and see if that makes any difference?

The "no sound" issue is all over this forum (do a search), and most have no resolution.
@AndrewAbo - it is correct that the "no sound" issue is all over the community here. You would normally assume that the Spotify development team would pay attention to such a critical issue that so many users encounter.
My suggestion to anyone would be to log this issue through this link so the issue will get on the radar. For now, it is trying to get used to skipping tracks each time at random the playlist stops playing.
I am having the same issue as described above.
iPhone 5S iOs 7 and iOs 8.
At some song switches the sound stops while the song continues playing. A quick rewind to the beginning of the song and it starts playing with no glitches. The cached songs are working, but in some song switches(aproximately 10-15% of switches) the sound just stops.
Would be great if Spotify would fix this issue.
I have the same issue.
Since iOS 8 the local files are not played.
And yes - I downloaded them to my phone via "available offline" and yes - they all worked fine on my iphone 5 with iOS 7....
I will cancel my subscription since I dont see why I should pay for a broken App
Hey guys,
Have you tried doing a full clean reinstallation? Does that make any difference?

I have not tried that yet. Will my playlists or anything else disappear after that?
I have the feeling the phone App is the problem, not the Computer program!?
Hey,
You won't lose any playlists. In case you have local files, you'll have to restore them.
This is not a desktop issue, the link I mentioned has a tab for all platforms including iPhone/iPad.

I would encourage anyone to try the proper application removal proceedure outlined earlier in this thread, just to be sure, but I've done that at least 3 times after various Spotify updates with no fix.
This is flat out an application issue, and judging from everyone's posts, it doens't matter what phone or IOS version you have. For example, I have an Android, Samsung Note II, with the same issue.
Have perfomed a complete application removal and installation and the problem persists.
This is unlikely a cache issue since if that would be the case the song wouldn't be playable in offline mode just by rewinding. Then it should not begin playing the sound just by a quick rewind.
Spotify, please regard this as a bug and fix it asap.
I have the same issue with occasional songs appearing to play but no sound. It is random which song this happens to. A song can work one day and not the next. The back button does seem to fix it for that song.
Is there a way in the spotify community to raise an issue and then people can indicate if they have the same problem - without having to reply to a message? A bit like a poll? Something like a "I have this problem too" button?
