Sonos speakers not grouping anymore

Sonos speakers not grouping anymore

I have 4 sonos speakers for years - two old "Sonos1" speakers and two new ones. I had two of the speakers grouped together and until yesterday I could select that grouping without any problem. The speaker grouping disappeared and I cannot group them again.

The problem is that when I go to my Current Devices in the Spotify app and I click on the ellipse next to any speaker, it presents me with the option to group the speakers by going to the Sonos1 app. The Sonos1 Controller app is deprecated so I cannot group the speakers from that app. I need to group them from the new Sonos app (which I have done), but Spotify is not recognizing this grouping.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Spotify app, the Sonos1 Controller app, and the Sonos app. I have revoked app access for Sonos through Spotify, then reauthorized access to my Spotify account from my Sonos app but it does not reflect the speaker groupings.

Hey @audreyaudrey,

Thanks for posting and welcome to the Community.

Currently, you can log in and listen to Spotify on as many devices as you like, but you can only play on one device at a time with one account. In this case, it's expected behavior that you can't play music in your Sonos group at the same time with your account.

Keep in mind that it's necessary to link a Spotify account to the speaker's manufacturer account, such as Google or Sonos, and this is required from both ends (Spotify and the manufacturer). Therefore, each Spotify account must be linked with an individual speaker manufacturer account and the speaker can only be used by the account that is linked.

We hope you found this helpful. We're always here to help.
