Spotify Connect is NOT working for volume controlling

Dear community, and spotify,

I think spotify connect is not working for volume controlling. 

I have been using spotify with other speakers and web players using spotify sdks, and my devices are appearing correctly to the spotify app of my iphone. However, I can't control the volume for the connected devices from spotify app of my phone. 

About 2 weeks ago, it was working and I could control the volume through my phone, but it suddenly broken without any noticing. 

Please make it clear if this is my own problem or spotify's internal issue.

Somebody please help me to solve this issue...

It's working when I force quit the spotify app while Spotify is connected to the external device. But when open the spotify app again is not working again.

Everyone I know is having this problem. Please Spotify can you fix this otherwise I can’t use Spotify at all on any devices.

On my phone if I open the Spotify Connect while playing, manually sliding the volume control does work.

So it looks like Spotify is not responding to volume button control activity. This would match with the Apple Watch not working. I presume the Digital Crown adjusts the iPhone volume control which is then passed to Spotify.

I have the same - dont think its spotify, though. IOS 17.3.1 to Dynaudio Focus 50 using Google Cast or Spotify Connect (both have problems). Volume control works from Spotify App AND from Google Home App but never from physical volume buttons on iphone. Physcial buttons works fine in Spotify when playing Iphone directly. Works from my wife’s iphone … same IOS version, same speakers…. Very strange.

not working for either across a multitude of devices, when on iphone, when i press volume buttons in app it doesent change the volume of the device. multiple devices, marantz cr510 melody and denon 6700h av reciever and all my amazon echo dot 4th gen

Just stopped working for me too. Spotify connect volume slider works but physical volume buttons do nothing. Confirmed with another iPhone. First it worked on the other iPhone but then the phone gave me a popup about background refreshing or something similar when on the Appstore. After okaying the message, the volume buttons stopped working on this iPhone as well for Spotify connect. Using Sonos Ray and Ikea’s Sonos speakers connected through WiFi.

Followup. I think the iOS message was about background downloads of content for apps. After okaying it, the volume buttons stopped working. Not sure if related.

I toggled that off and on and it didn’t help.

It could have been coincidental in your case.

This seems to be related to other volume issues people have been posting about regarding Apple Watch crown controlling the volume as well.  Only way I can control the volume when casting to chromecast audio is by physical turning the volume on my stereo. Seems like a recent update broke this.  I’m on most recent version of Spotify on IOS.
