My Question or Issue

I cannot get Siri to control Spotify within CarPlay.

I ask "Play Starred playlist on Spotify" and get the response "Spotify doesn't support playing playlists". Similar response if I try a song. However I can get this to work if I have Mobile Data activated in my Spotify iOS settings. I dont wish for this to be on to prevent using my data allowance. I have "Starred" playlist downloaded onto my phone.

Any ideas?

Same thing. “Spotify doesn’t support playing music” lol.

This is still a problem, and for me it is an annoying bug caused by cellular data being turned off for Spotify. Spotify hates when you turn off cellular data, I don’t know why, and I would love if the issues with it were fixed thanks

That’s definitely what it is. I’m guessing Spotify had to initiate the search for a song in its databases, and needs to data to find which song you’re asking about. Sad, but makes sense

Hey there @NeedSupport and @Dreamcast77777 ,

Thank you for reaching out to us. We're glad to help.

Just like in your own experience, looks like it's good to have some data on to help Siri and Spotify run smoothly together.

As a heads-up, make sure to keep an eye on any future updates so that you don't miss any improvements.

Keep us posted. We're always one reply away 🙂

Cheers!

There needs to be a setting that blocks music from playing on cellular but
still allows it to remain on for Siri and other data. It will probably be
added shortly after all capped data plans become unavailable.
