I FOUND OUT WHY THIS IS HAPPENING

To fix this glitch remove the tint on your apps. The widget will appear like it’s supposed to after you do.

this problem is also happening with Snapchat’s widget and many other apps.

This problem has nothing to do with Spotify. The widget isn’t working properly because of Apples software.

if you guys are signed up as a beta version developer at Apple, go report this glitch there.

My Question or Issue

After latest app update 9.0.14 the widget does not work anymore and does not change color. I have tried restarting phone, removing and replacing the widget, and uninstalling the app no to avail.

Hey folks!

Thanks for letting us know about this. Seeing that it's appeared after an update, it might very well be related to it. Oddly enough though, not all iOS devices with this update share the same issue.

As we're going to report this backstage to the tech folks, we'd like to ask you to cover some troubleshooting with us in case this can be resolved locally:

  • Try clearing your app's cached data. Log out of the app and back in twice in a row to trigger a manual sync of your data & settings after.
  • If step 1 doesn't help, see if performing a complete clean reinstall of the app would make a difference. This will remove your temporary offline data as well and you'd need to re-download your playlists after accessing the app.

Please confirm to us after you've gone through these steps and let us know if the issue persists after. We'd also like to know if the song covers are missing only from your widget or from the iPhone's lock screen as well.

Much appreciated! We'll be on the lookout for your replies 🙂

I tried all those steps and it still did not work. None of the widgets work for me regardless of home or Lock Screen. And the notification with the photo still works fine just the widgets don’t show up.

Hey @uxcxplores,

Thanks for the update! Could you tell or show us which notification with a photo works as intended on your end?
And, just to confirm, both your home-screen widget and the lock screen playback widget show no album cover, is that correct?
Much appreciated! 🙂

None of the widgets work. But the Lock Screen playback has no issues.

Hey again @uxcxplores,

Thanks for the confirmation. We believe that this issue has something to do with this one we have under investigation.
We've alerted the folks backstage and we're waiting on further info from them 🙂

We'll keep you posted and, in the meantime, you can also subscribe to the linked thread to stay on top of any new updates. Thanks!

I’m certain this issue is related to iOS 18.3. Since I updated to this version, some of my widgets are no longer working and are stuck with the redacted style. (I don’t have any issues with the Spotify widget.)

is there any updates regarding this? the spotify widget still doesn’t work on my iphone.

My Question or Issue

On my Home Screen, I have a Spotify widget and since last week, the widget hasn’t loaded once. It used to work perfectly, but for some reason it doesn’t work anymore..

I tried taking off the widget and putting a new one and it’s still not loading..

I even tried reseting the cache from Spotify, but even there nothing worked..

anybody knows what do I do?

I tried offload app and, the albums were displayed. When if I reinstalled it, the albums go blanks again.

I’ve been beta testing iOS 18.3 since first beta release to RC. I did not have a single issue. This only started occurring when I updated the app to 9.0.14

@_human_ is right! When I remove the tinted customisation, the albums are displayed

My Question or Issue

The iOS widget contents are a white block when home screen colours customised to be the newer tinted option.  It works fine in the dark and light mode, just not tinted.  This affects all widget types.  I have noticed this with other applications which have since fixed this error with updates (pocketcasts/google calendar etc..). I've attached an image.

@Vasil - This issue is being caused by the “tint” setting that can be selected in the iOS Home Screen to make all app icons one color.

you can quickly re-create this by holding down on the iOS home screen, clicking, editing, the top left, and then choosing “customize” you’ll notice that the Spotify widget shows the appropriate album covers when the dark mode or light mode is selected, However, if you choose the tint selection and make all of the app icons, one color, that’s when the Spotify widget turns blank, and all of the album covers are just white squares. Can you guys please fix this ASAP?
