Spotify app randomly stops playing since recent iOS update

Spotify app randomly stops playing since recent iOS update

Since the last iOS update my Spotify has been playing up. Every single 1-2 songs the music just stops playing. I still have a full 4G (50mb/s) connection, and this even happens with tracks I have saved locally (i.e. there's no need to use the connection to stream).

Anyone else having this problem or a fix?!........ Nothing but problems with the iOS app and days away from just cancelling my subscription!

Hey, what device and iOS version?

@SR_Penny i realise that there's this issue from time to time, just logout and login again and it will be okay.

Someone also told me that restarting (like literally, turning it off and turning it on) works as well and the problem never came back to him. Restarting simply resets the audio chip in the iOS device.

I have spotify premium on my iphone 4, and a few weeks ago it started acting up by stopping 30 seconds into a song and then not wanting to play any other songs. It was very frustrating as I pay to use this. It kept on doing this, so I decided to try and update the app. When I did this all of my playlists dissapeared and the problem with it not wanting to play the songs are still there.

I now unsubscribed from the premium version because I don't want to pay for something that doesn't work. But I really miss being able to use spotify on my phone.

Anyone know how to fix this??

Oh btw, it works perfectly on my Mac... Weird??!

@jeremygoh Tried that. Seems to have improved, but is still doing it every few songs. Have even reinstalled the app.

@SR_Penny There are some reports of this on iPhone 4, but def not on 5S. (Personal experience)

Are you a spotify premium member? You might want to head in to spotify.com -> login to your account -> go to the offline devices tab -> remove all offline devices

On the app, just delete the entire app and start again.. It should be okay then. As I'm using the same phone as you and don't face this issue.

Hey guys! We're looking into this for you. If you haven't already please post:

1. Your exact device

2. Device's iOS

3. Spotify app version

4. Does it crashing just when streaming, offline, all the time?

Mine is an iPhone 5s.

iOS 7.1.2.

Spotify v 1.4.0.1334.

Happens all the time (both streaming tracks and saved tracks). It's not a 'crash' per se as the app is still running, but the music will just stop and will not play again - the app has to be closed from multitasking and reloaded.

I'm having a very similar problem, but mine seems to be a bit more specific.  First:

1. Your exact device - iPhone 4S, 32GB Verizon

2. Device's iOS - 7.1.2

3. Spotify app version - 1.4.0.1334

4. Does it crashing just when streaming, offline, all the time? - See below:

When playing an offline playlist in Offline Mode and a track from my Local Files is played, the player stops and the next song absolutley will not play.  I have to skip the next track and then it works fine until another Local File is played.

1. iPhone 4

2. version 6.1.3  (I think??)

3. Spotify version 1.4.0

4. It happens all the time, whether it's in offline or online mode, or whatever song I am playing. It doesn't help deleting the app and reinstalling, nor does it help to log in and out. To me it seems like nothing is working..

iPhone 4s, 32 gb, ATT
iOS 7.1.2
Spotify 1.4.0.1334
Crashes sporadically even when not streaming, simply browsing playlist, etc. sometimes crashes on startup.
Was fine prior to latest spotify update.

Phone: iPhone 3GS
iOS: 6.1.6
Spotify Version: 1.4.1
Crash Frequency: load from search
Jailbroken: no
Premium Subscription: Yes

with new spotify 1.4 it crashes when i hit search, search anything , and load song.
Spotify immediately closes.
it did not do this before 1.4

I have the exact same issue.

1. Your exact device - iPhone 5, 16GB Verizon

2. Device's iOS - 7.1.2

3. Spotify app version - 1.4.1.4

Playing a offline playlist and the player loads the next song and stops. Have to skip the song and go back to it for it to load. Extremely annoying and dangerous when driving.

Iphone 4. 16GB with >10GB free space
6.1.3
1.4.1.4
Crashes when searching for any song and hitting on it on the results list. App quits at this moment. Nothing can be played from search result list.
Reboot, reinstall didnt help. Nothing else runs, empty memory, nothing on app bar.

Time to cancel my premium membership. I didn't pay for this bs.

if i try to play a song directly from song search results, the app crashes and quits. every time!

i have to go to specific albums in order to play the songs.

incredibly frustrating.

iphone: 4s

ios: 6.1.3

jailbroken: no

spotify: 1.4.1.4

premium subscription: yes

Vote with your wallet, not with your mouth. Cancel your subscription like I did. There are obvious issues with the app and they just don't care, you know why? They have your money already.

Spotify crashes after searching for music and then selecting song to play from the search.
Version 1.4.1
iPhone 5 iOS 6

1. Apple iPhone 5c
2. iOS 7.1.2
3. Spotify app version 1.4.14
4. Crashes whether streaming online or off. Sometimes constant crashing. Other times more intermittent (a 30 minute stretch if I'm really lucky)
