Spotify crashes on Carplay after reconnect - Audio doesn't play.

Spotify crashes on Carplay after reconnect - Audio doesn't play.

Using the latest spotify on iPhone 11 XS Max.

When the car is switched off and on and carplay reconnects, many times spotify audio output crashes and songs play without sound. If I do the same with Apple Music, sound is played properly and Apple Music is very stable.

It looks like Spotify is not able to handle audio output changes whereas Apple Music can. Manually killing Spotify sometimes helps, sometimes it gets stuck and doesn't recover at all.

How can this be resolved?

Hi there @Hercules2,

Thanks for reaching out about this.

In this case we can recommend running a clean reinstall of the app both on your phone and on the car system. You can check out this guide for the device relevant steps. This is a simple step and it's often overlooked, but solves such issues for most users.

Hope this helps. Don't hesitate to give us a shout if you have more questions.

Cheers.

I don't know how I should respond this answer. There isn't anything installed on the car. That's the whole point of carplay. How am i supposed to reinstall it.

Apple music works without issues so it looks like a spotify issue.

Hey @Hercules2,

Thanks for getting back to us 🙂

Can you try with another account? That way we can check if it's an account-related issue.

It's also important to make sure that the firmware is up-to-date.

Keep us in the loop! We'll be right here if you have any questions.
