Every time. I basically cannot use it. It works with my chromecast hooked up to the tv, but the audio one is useless. other apps stream fine so I know it's spotify. I'm on ios10 and have the most recent spotify. I've tried uninstalling, rebooting the chromecast audio, etc, etc
This just started happening to me also with Chromecast audio. Usually if I reconnect it sticks the second time, but this issue is pretty new for me, last couple of days I'd say.
anyway hope this helps to get it fixed. Spotify Connect + Chromecast Audio is amazing.
I bought a Chromecast Audio yesterday, and for the most part after a song starts, after about 30 seconds it stops and I have to reconnect it, then it plays fine for hours. Then just now, it started disconnecting repeatedly after 30 seconds to a minute of playing...can't get it to work at all. Googled and found this thread. Hope there's a solution or fix for whatever's going on.
Out of curiosity, do you happen to have a podcast app open on your phone in the background? I just closed Downcast, which was open "in the background" and now it's working ok.
Nothing else open here... appreciate you weighing in though. It must be really difficult to sort these things out from the Spotify perspective. It does seem like more than a few users experiencing this since the last update...
I also have nothing else open in the background. I unfortunately cannot get it to continue playing even with a reconnect. It renders my setup useless. Really hope this gets addressed soon.

My wife and I are also having this issue, using two different phones. I haven't checked my firmware version. It just started happening in the past week.
The same thing has been happening here since the weekend. Other audio apps connect to Chromecast and stream flawlessly, only Spotify is having this problem. It can take several attempts to connect and then I'm lucky if it stays connected for as long as a minute.
I'm using a Nexus 6p and a original chromecast. My wife has the same issue from her Nexus 5X.

I've been using Spotify+ Chromecast for a long while now--since the first days of Chromecast support. Now it's broken.
Every minute of so I need to reconnect to the Chromecast to hear audio.
My best guess: the latest Spotify update broke it. Thanks.
That's why software should be tested before releasing updates. It's easier to fix when it's caught in-house... and doesn't upset paying customers.

The same. Worked beautifly so far, until it didn't. No matter if I use windows 10 laptop, Newest Android on Sony phone, newest Android on Samsung phone, iPad, iPhone 7, Macbook Air with Sierra - music pauses or stopps for no reason.
So the problem is either with Chromecast (did it update recently?) or Spotify.
Eitherway it makes my spotify account pretty useless and I don't think I'm the only one. So if someone from Spotify really addressed this issue...
I two have ChromeCast Audios in a group as my main source of mysic.
It's not working very well with spotify never has. (Everything else alwas worked fine).
Within the last couple of days either spotify or ChromeCast broke something, the Spotify app can connect to the video CC but not the Audio ones, individually or the group.
I have the same problem, but I'm not using a chromecast audio, I'm using a regular chromecast 2.

Should have mentioned this issue does not affect my other phone which is running the same version of Spotify (6.3.0.882 armV7), so something has happened on my S7 in the past week or so... Working phone = Samsung Galaxy S5 (Telstra Australia).
Are you all aware that there are issues when using chromecast on 5Ghz Wifi.
(Besides the fact that Spotify works really bad on ChromeCast).
