Spotify does not seem to recognize my device at all. I am on a university wifi so that may be the issue?

What I have tried:

So what can I do? my iphone and osx are all updated and so is spotify. Without device recognition i cannot sync my own mp3s.

I am also running sophos anti virus and bitdefender.

I think the problem is the university WiFi.

A few people have posted the same problem before and they were on university WiFi.

ah okay, would I have better luck at a coffee shop wifi?

I've never used a coffee shop WiFi, so I'm not sure =/
