Spotify iPad-version - Wanted/Missing Features

Solved!

Spotify iPad-version - Wanted/Missing Features

Great that you finally made it! Not a day to late though as iPad have been around since...can't remember! 😉

But...Why on earth have you not at least kept all the features from the iPhone-version???

(I might have missed this but then it is not intuitive enough.)

Volume slider (this is the weird one) --- YOU FINALLY MADE IT!!! (Saw this 2013 Sept 25!!)
Be able to "drill down" on an artist "Now playing" (from a playlist, full view) and from there explore the albums etc. (#1)
Airplay menu in overview mode
Multi gestures (two fingers up or down for volume control)
To be able to search in a playlist (from jespersthlm)
Double tap the fullscreen should brings up the artist overview (same feature like the second from above)
As you have choosed to use the leaf navigation (sliding pages sideways for the hiearchy), dim down the pages in the background so it does not get so messy as everything have the same light grey background color now.
NEW: When you do a offline syncing, the symbol appear in the left side lower corner. It would be great by clicking that symbol takes you to the place where the syncing is happening.
More features requested from users below:

History
Spotify Apps
Jump from song directly to Album
Improved pane navigation
Radio
Customizable tabs
Genres and Top Charts
Easy access to album and artist panes from Now Playing Menu (e.g. like in the desktop app where you click on the artist name) (#3)
Being able to "star" a whole album. (#2)
Swiping through cover arts in the Now Playing panes only starts playing a song when you *let go* of the swype, i.e. to allow you to skip over tracks easily.
View the queue list

SOLUTIONS:

#1 = Tap the full view screen and in the bottom you have a symbol with a bunch of people. That is the one!

#2 = (from user: soho/Spotify-team) It is actually possible to star a whole album. On the album view, just tap the + button and then select Starred in the "Add to Playlist" popover that appears.

#3 = Tapping the artist name in Now Playing will take you to the playing context. So if you're playing from an album, that's where you'll end up. If you're playing from an artist or a playlist, then you will be taken to the artist view or the playlist view. (i.e. same as on desktop)

COMMENTS:

(from user: soho/Spotify-team) We've had a lot of discussions about the context menus you get when long-pressing a track, tapping the small cover art in Now Playing Bar, and also seen at the bottom of the Now Playing view. We wanted to keep them clean and not too confusing, but the discussion is still ongoing and nothing is set in stone, so feedback is always welcome.

Spotify app for iPad has got to be the most retarded thing they have ever done.

Where is the sense behind having a music library on the iPhone app and then you jump onto your iPad and unable to see your music content.

Playlist are playlists spotify!!!! This is not a music library! EXAMPLE. iPhone app sorts everything into albums/songs/arstists. iPad app just sits there looking at playlists. Nobody cares about playlists and if they do its not inclusive of their whole media library.

Come on sort this out, this is so standard to include this. I would do it for you! Its such a simple fix.

MUSIC LIBRARY ON IPAD APP PLEASE.

I deleted all my playlists on spotify app for iPhone and saved everything into the music library, then i turn on my iPad and nothing! Brilliant!

And yes before you tell me I can recover deleted playlists, I am well aware. Its not the point. Sort it out spotify!

I agree on all four points and I add: 5. To be able to search in a playlist.

Hi guys,

Just to confirm, our team worked hard on this app, not Facebook. It's taken a while as we've wanted it to be awesome. So, feedback like this is really important to us. We get to see what you guys would like added.

I'll forward it on.

Who's your Spotify Star?

The app is awesome (really!) as I learn how to find stuff (1 of the 5 still) along the way but as you need to find features that is in a certain part (corner) it would be good to have a guide when you install the new iPad-app the first time to go through things. I have seen very simple apps supporting that even.

I have refreshed the list above with changes, more stuff

Sorry to be hard-nosed about Facebook and Apple but a lot of thoughts adds to this.

Keep send updates now and correct stuff frequently!

😄

is there one ?

If not - why not ?

am i missing something ?

I am very happy with the upgrade but after been waiting for so long time I really missing radio and apps features and also I dont understand why not a volume control. Maybe there are few basic controls in a music device and one of then is missing... I found a quick solution...clicking menu bottom so you can get acess to default volume controls but once again...why we have lost volume control??

I agree with the volume control and search in playlist... I've also added a few more requests in the review of the iPad app here

http://www.appsafari.com/music/19124/spotify-for-ipad/

In addition to what is already listed here we are asking for the follwoing features:

- Spotify Apps

- Jump from song directly to Album

- Improved pane navigation

- Radio

- Customizable tabs

- Genres and Top Charts

If this is becoming the ipad feature request thread I'll add mine.

1) Easy access to album and artist panes from Now Playing Menu (e.g. like in the desktop app where you click on the artist name)

2) Being able to "star" a whole album.

3) Volume control

4) Volume control

5) Swiping through cover arts in the Now Playing panes only starts playing a song when you *let go* of the swype, i.e. to allow you to skip over tracks easily.

6) Volume control

I should add that for a V1.0 app is it bloomin brilliant!

Spotify for iPad is the missing piece of the puzzle for me in terms of using Spotify as my main music source, so thanks for the long time coming release.

Just to echo some the points made by others, Volume Control is a top priority along with Airplay option.

In my mind these should be available on every screen with the playback controls.

Gestures for Volume as well would be nice, but certainly a slider option is necessary (essential) in all control windows.

Thanks for the feedback! You make some very good points. I've added some comments below.

* It is actually possible to star a whole album. On the album view, just tap the + button and then select Starred in the "Add to Playlist" popover that appears.

* Tapping the artist name in Now Playing will take you to the playing context. So if you're playing from an album, that's where you'll end up. If you're playing from an artist or a playlist, then you will be taken to the artist view or the playlist view. (i.e. same as on desktop)

* We've had a lot of discussions about the context menus you get when long-pressing a track, tapping the small cover art in Now Playing Bar, and also seen at the bottom of the Now Playing view. We wanted to keep them clean and not too confusing, but the discussion is still ongoing and nothing is set in stone, so feedback is always welcome.

There is no way to jump from a currently playing song to the album the song is from. This feature is the thing I really love about Spotify and now it's not there in long awaited app.

Listening to playlist you find a song you like which comes from a compilation album with various artists and want quickly view all tracks on this album - on iPhone its easy tap and select the album but on iPad it's a mess. Smiley Mad

Using Spotify on my Mac, PC, iPhone, iPad

I don't understand how this feature is missing?? I thought this was the whole point of spotify? It's standard in the iPhone and desktop version.. There should be an artist info button AND a song info button. You cant figure out what album a song comes from... !! How does discovery work if you can't locate the source?.. Arg I've got to be missing something!?!? Please help

I love the iPad app so far, it took far too long, but it's great. I agree that it's not obvious until reading on here that you can hold down on a track, then have an option to see all tacks on that album etc. maybe a tutorial, or a different way of doing this is needed synch as a button. Other things that are missing for me: Dismiss panes. When navigating, I open lots of panes, I wish I could drop these at will. But the biggest feature I want is playlist management. If I find an album I really like, I save that album as a playlist. On the desktop, I then move this playlist into one of my playlist folders such as favourite albums, or I have a playlist folder called genres, then sub folders for each genre. I want to be able to move a playlist into a playlist folder. At the movement on the iPad, you can only make playlists at the root level which is a shame as I have to leave it messy and tidy on a desktop later

Sadly no - you are not missing anything as it just is not there Smiley Frustrated

C'mon Spotify - this is what you're about - remember what Gustav Söderström, Spotify 's chief product officer, said

"the iPad is most suited to music discovery, browsing and digging deep into Spotify's catalogue"

Using Spotify on my Mac, PC, iPhone, iPad

I'm enjoying the iPad app. But I seem to be missing how to remove a track from a playlist. Any ideas? Edit: sorry, I found it under edit mode.

BigBlueSky: If you, on the left side, choose a playlist it will appear on the right side (above you have the big play button over the covers). Just below the covers you have a button called "Edit". from there you should figure it out.

Remember that you can not delete a tune if you subscribe to someone else playlist... Then the "Edit" button will not appear.

Good luck!

I definitely think the context menus need to be more intuitive, navigating to artists/albums took me awhile to work out and seem a bit long winded. It only seems to possible to do this with the track that is currently playing for example?

Have you postet it in the Idea page??

Queue is working poorly when you are in search mode. If I search a track I can't queue it the same way as the playlists. Does anyone know how to do it, or does'nt it work in search mode?

Pleeeeeease include the radio feature. Definitely the most used feature on the desktop version for me.
