Spotify is automatically adjusting my audio

Spotify is automatically adjusting my audio

When I go into a playlist Spotify keeps adjusting my audio to a set audio. I have the volume normalization setting turned off. When I had audio adjustment on it would set it to a very loud volume. With audio adjustment off it set it to a very low volume. If already at the volume it wanted it at it did not change. The volume level it spit it at may be a coincidence but I am unsure.

Hey there,

Thanks for reaching out about this and welcome to the Community!

Keep in mind that the audio normalization option is to create a more uniform listening experience so in this case, we suggest turning it on. Then, you can adjust the volume to your liking. Note that the volume level might vary across devices.

“Music acts like a magic key, to which the most tightly closed heart opens.”– Maria von Trapp

This is happening when audio normalization was on and when it is off.

Hey @Incantacious,

Thanks for getting back to us.

In this case we'd recommend trying a clean reinstall of the app to make sure you have the latest version and that any outdated files are removed. Give your device a quick restart as well before you open the newly installed app.

If that doesn't solve the issue, could you let us know if you experience this with a different account?

Hope this helps. Keep us posted.

Same is happening here, but just when I’m using my data plan. It’s pissing me off!

Hi there @andreivalentim,

Thanks for the post.

Have you tried the troubleshooting steps that Lyubka has suggested? Apart from that, you can try this out: Go into the Spotify settings > Audio Quality > Cellular streaming > Try out different options here, to check if the audio normalization gets better.

Let us know how if goes.

I have this happening on my TV. What am I supposed to do there?

Hey @Acho3,

Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the Spotify Community!

Are you listening directly on your TV or is it connected to external speakers? Are you using Spotify Connect for the speakers if there are any? Can you let us know the make and model of your TV? It's also a good idea to check if there are any firmware updates for your TV and install them.

Keep us posted.

Thank you for reply. My Samsung S95BA 65 is playing through its own speakers and is running the latest firmware. I attach to the app via the app on my iPhone. The volume changes on itself in a VERY wide range. I only want to disable this function, not to “get it working”. How can I do this? Because disabling “normalization” in settings doesn’t change a thing.

Hey there @Acho3,

Thanks for keeping in touch.

In this case, we'd like to gather some additional info to better understand what's happening on your side. Just to clarify:

  • What did you mean when you mentioned you attached the app via your iPhone? Are you using Connect to control the playback from your iPhone?
  • Does this happen when playing music on the TV app itself (without using the iPhone), when using Connect from your phone, or in both cases?
  • Is the volume indicator on the TV changing when this happens?
  • We'd also like to know if this happens with any other apps too.

It would be helpful if you sent us a video showing how everything happened. You can attach the video in your next reply in mp4 format, or you can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and make it public, so we can visualize it.

We'll be on the lookout.
