Why doesn't spotify allow premium users to play on more than one device at a time? It's crazy that you have to get a subscription for each family member to make sure the music isn't stoppped all the time. I understand that it can't be an unlimited amount of devices, but you should be able to sync 4-5 devices on the same account and be able to play on those devices at the same time.
I havent tried yet because I'm syncing as I'm writing this, but does it make a difference if you make the playlists available offline?
Thanks

Hi phonak,
Welcome to the community.
I agree that in the context of a family, especially where one or two breadwinners are paying for a number of subscriptions for children, things can start adding up. The problem, of course, is that the system would be probably quite heavily abused if every Spotify subscriber could share their account with 4 or 5 other people.
A Spotify subscription is for individual use only, according to or T&C. The rights holders of the music played - ultimately artists and composers - rely on subscription income, and they wouldn't be very happy with us if we didn't have this condition in place.
There is a considerable customer demand for a family subscription. I guess this would be similar to a family telco subscription, where a number of accounts are all paid for centrally with a discount. I hope that we can offer something like this before too long.

I know. So dumb!!! Solution is to switch to Pandora One. They allow playing on multiple devices.
I think spotify should have that option to add a user to your account for a small addtional fee. Like $2 an addtional user to the premium account. And have it able to have independent listening. I agree its dumb that you cant listen from multiple devices with one package. But Spotify could put together a family package some how. Other companys do it and for less.

Hey! Welcome to the community 🙂
Family subscriptions are discussed over on the ideas exchange in this topic.
Its been on the table for a long time, but I guess the amount of work that would need to be put in behind the scene to make this possible is massive.

I just discovered this today when my wife tried to listen at the same time I was. I just cancelled my pandora account too. This is most disappointing. If pandora can do it , why can't spotify? Pandora is cheaper too. I really thought spotify was the service the finally provides all the features I'm looking for. Looks like it's back to pandora. Hopefully, I will be back in the future.
Well I don't see the point of paying for this subscription anymore if I can only use one phone. My wife tried to sync music onto her phone but it only can be done to mine. I don't see the point of paying for two subscription so I will soon cancel and find another source so I can use more than just one device. Your concept is there but you need to expand your access for at least one more device!!
A family membership is under consideration but I guess they need the agreement of the publishers first.
I thought the Family plan would provide that service, when suscribing it seems it says this plan shold allow difrent family users to play music on multiples devices at the same time.
Has this been fixed?

Thank you, when offline, this device will not be able to stream radio or new songs, right. That said, it will only play what we have downloaded in each device?
