Spotify queue not working

Spotify queue not working

Spotify does not add songs to queue even though I add them there. The queue only accepts approximately 20 songs. After that, even though the sign ”Added to queue” appears, the songs do not show there.

Hi everyone,

There's currently an issue with the queue where the playback breaks when the app attempts to play a song that's been added to the queue manually, which our tech team is actively investigating. As soon as we have any updates on the topic we'll let you folks know in this thread, check it out 👍

Happy holidays 💚

Hey @Sidumorjens121,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community.

This type of issue is commonly related to some damaged cache stored on your device. In case you haven't done it before, we'd first recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app by following the steps in this article. This is often an overlooked step, but it’s more thorough than a quick one and can be helpful in getting rid of any cache that might be causing trouble.

Also, check if your device has any SD card inserted. If so, remove it, restart the device and try again.

If the issue persists, include in your next response the make, model and OS version of your device, along with the Spotify version you're currently running to continue investigating the case.

We'll be on the lookout.

Hi,

Followed your instructions, twice, still the same issue. At times the songs go to the queue but do not show in there. They appear one at a time when I change change to next song. Very irritating.

Model: iPhone 13 Pro

iOS: 16.2

Spotify version: 8.8.2.

Thanks.

Hey @Sidumorjens121,

Thanks for getting back to us!

We've tried reproducing this issue but we were not able to.

We'd like you to test if the issue persist with another account. If a family member has a Spotify account, it could be a good idea to ask them to log in on your device to see if the app behaves the same way.

On another note, could you let us know if you experience this on 5G, Wi-Fi or both?

Let us know how it goes. We'll be keeping an eye out for your reply.

i've had this happen a few times - incredibly annoying!

you're browsing around and then find something new and intriguing to want to listen to.

you add it to the queue, expecting it to appear/play and it doesn't. an hour goes by and you realise the song never played.

because there is not real "history" or record of artist's pages you've looked through, there is now no way of knowing what the missing song was! ughhhhh

Hey @maxartist23,

Thanks for posting in the Community.

How many songs were in the queue when you added the songs that didn't play? Does this happen only when there is above a certain amount of songs?

Keep us posted,

Cheers!

thanks for the reply.

i cannot remember exactly. probably a long spotify playlist or one album.

all i know is that sometimes when i add one song, i then later on i realise it never actually played.

as there is no decent browsing/history function, i have no way of going back and finding what the missing song was.

i browse around a lot and add new artists/albums/songs to my playlists. but by the time i realise the song was not played - i have totally forgotten what the non-played song was...

Same issue. No matter how many items are in queue. It happens to me only when I want to add some playlists to queue. Some work, some don't.

Even when I clear queue completely some playlists fail to be added to queue.

Works when I add single song to playlist.

Started happening few weeks ago.

Clearing cache and resetting phone (Google Pixel 7 Pro) doesn't help.

Very irritating because the app displays message 'Added to queue' but it's not there.

Hey @P_Ko_,

Thanks for getting in touch about this in the Community and the info shared. We appreciate your detailed description and all the steps you’ve tried.

Have you noticed if this happens both with your Wi-Fi and mobile data? Also, it would be helpful to check if this happens from a different device. Could you try logging in with your account from another device and check if the issue persists? You can do it from a computer or someone else’s mobile device.

Lastly, let us know the Spotify version you have installed. We'll take a look.

We'll keep an eye out for your reply!

See it’s different for me when I wanna take away songs for example on tripleS album LOVElution I wanted to take away 5/8 songs on the album it would take it away but when you press repeat it would add back the 5 songs I took away

Hey @Surriah,

Thanks for reaching out.

Can you please share a screen recording of the issue and let us know the model, OS version and Spotify version of the affected device? Also, does this happen with a different account/device?

Keep us posted.

My Question or Issue

Spotify isn’t allowing me to remove songs from the queue by either only removing a portion of selected songs or not removing them at all, sometimes just rearranging them. It also duplicates songs in the queue, restarting my device, clearing the cache, and uninstalling and reinstalling the app all did not fix the issue.

Hello, @number1southparkluvrmcdvoice

It sounds like you’re experiencing a frustrating issue with Spotify’s queue management on your iPhone 12. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the problem:

Troubleshooting Steps
Restart Your Device:
You’ve already tried this, but it’s always a good first step to ensure there are no temporary glitches.
Clear Cache:
Go to Settings > Storage > Spotify and clear the cache. This can sometimes resolve issues with the app.
Clean Reinstall:
Uninstall Spotify, restart your device, and then reinstall the app. This ensures that any corrupted data is removed.
Reduce Queue Length:
A long queue can sometimes cause issues. Try reducing the number of songs in your queue and see if that helps.
Update Spotify:
Ensure that you have the latest version of Spotify installed. Sometimes, updates include bug fixes for issues like this.

Use Spotify Web Player: Try managing your queue using the Spotify Web Player on a desktop browser. This can sometimes bypass issues present in the mobile app.

I hope this info is helpful to you.

Best Regard,
Gregory Chavez

I noticed that if you add a song to the queue while another song is playing, it will add it to the queue. But if you hit pause and start adding songs to the queue, it won't work. Very annoying

Same problem

I'm also facing same problem. I have Spotify premium. Usually, what I do is I play songs on my PC and add songs to queue via my Moto Edge 50 Android phone. Recently, When I add songs, it only adds very few of them. Like if I added 5 songs, it will only add 2 out of the 5. What I observed tho was while adding songs to queue, the app sometimes pops with a small black message in the bottom saying "No Internet Connection." Even tho I have internet and I have the latest version of the app

Hey folks,

Thanks for the reports.

For anyone experiencing this issue, make sure to let us know if this is happening with a different account or device. Also, if you haven't already, try a clean reinstall of the app to see if it makes any difference.

If this doesn't do the trick, please send over the rest of the info requested by @MihailY here so we can have a look.

We'll be on the lookout for your replies.

Have you checked the storage space of your device? You need to make sure there is sufficient space for the Spotify app to run properly. Also, try to uninstall and reinstall the app. If it keeps saying "No Internet Connection", consider resetting your device's network settings. This post solved my issue. You can try some of their solutions.

I am facing a similar issue. When I put a song into the queue, it says "now playing" but does not play anything.
and when I push the next button no song plays. It happened a day ago and I reinstalled spotify and cleared the cache and everything. Why is this problem occuring?

and what do I do to fix it?

**bleep** you got the same problem as me. When I add a song to queue, it's there but when it's time for it to play, the playing bar  freeze. When I open queue and double click it, it doesn't respond, same with any other songs on that queue AND songs to play next after that queue ends. I had to clear queue and chose to play a song in other places to start anew (since all the songs after the queue were **bleep**ed too)

I have cleared cache - reinstall the app - log out and in again, but the issue persist.

I thought this would be a temporary error but it wasn't, it's been days now. I don't know if the next Spotify update will fix it. It's so annoying.
