Hi guys.
I know this is a common subject, but it works a little bit differently for me. My devices (a 4g iPod Touch (running with iOs 6.1.3) and an iPhone 4 (running with iOs 7.1) are connected to the same wireless conection that comes from a router in which my PC is connected. but using a cable. Basically, my devices are connected on a network with the name I set. and my pc is connected to the same network (in thesis), but is the local connection type, so it shows up a name that is different from the one I set on wi-fi. I connected the devices via USB, connected them to the wifi network (as I explained), and opened the spotify app on them, as it should be, and I even tried to open Spotify as Administrator, checked the exception on firewall, tryed the "Playback > Offline" and" Create New Playlist/Add music > Make it 'available offline' " on mobile, and nothing worked, so I'm assuming it has something to do with this different set of connection. Can you guys help me? Is there a way to at least connect only via USB, or something like? And if there's not, what else can I Try to make it work? OR, AT LEAST, is there a way so that my local files that are on my playlists (which are the same that are on my iPod - but connected using only iTunes) are "recognized" by the spotify app, or something like that? (I hope you guys understand everything I meant, I'm really sorry about the poor english.) Thanks!
Hi! Thank you very much man. I tried what you recommended, and it didn't work... again, I'm not sure if it is because my pc is connected on the hotspot via USB nor anything like that, but it doesn't exhibit the same name as I set in the iPhone (I know it might be normal, because windows name its "local connexctions" with a standad name, but I think it's better if I pooint it). So my iPod is connected on the iPhone hotspot, which is connected on my wi-fi, and my pc is connected on the hotspot too, but I open Spotify on the devices and neither of them are detected. Again, thank you very much.
Yeah, so, I did all of those things, as I said, I had already checked the firewall, all the connections from/to spotify are open/allowed, I tried the hotspot and it still didn't work...
Sorry man, I'm not sure if I got it... where can I check if Spotify is connected on the same network as the other devices? As I said, this is how my wireless connection works: It's a router, and my devices are connected to its wi-fi, but my pc is connected to it through a cable, cause it doesn't have wirelles connection. I think it was supposed to be the same network, the same connection, right...? But, as I said, I can't really guarantee that, I'm not a specialist... because Windows is used to use a standard name to its connections, it shows a different name to this network, than the name that the devies show to wireless connection. But, as far as I know, it is the same connection (at least, the same "telephone line" source, hope you get what I mean.)
@mateus_so Your PC should be connected to the router, just follow the cable and check whether it is connected well.. Than your iPhone/iPod Touch should be connected to the router via Wifi too.
And follow this steps to enable the firewall settings:
If you’re using Windows (here’s the Windows Firewalls rules):
http://community.spotify.com/t5/Help-iOS-iPhone-iPad-iPod-Touch/iPhone-5-iOS7-won-t-sync-or-show-up-...
(i know I sent it previously, but check on it again.) It should work.
If it doesn't work, follow these steps:
USB TETHERING FOR iPHONE/iPAD:
1) disconnect all internet cables on your computer
2)
Go to this link: http://www.wikihow.com/Connect-to-the-Internet-On-Your-Laptop-Through-the-Cell-Phone
(Choose the USB option instead of Wifi option when you switch on your Wireless Hotspot and make sure the phone is connected to the computer prior to these steps)
And make sure you choose USB tethering and ignore the last picture of the step when it ask you to check your wireless network
Yeah, so, I did everything as you told me, and it didn't work yet. I don't even have a firewall. My windows Firewall doesn't work anymore cause I had a inffection some time ago and wasn't able to activate it again yet. So I've just downloaded another Firewall program, and added all possible exceptions to anything related to Spotify. And it didn't work. And then I disabled this firewall, and it didn't work neither. Then tried the hotspot, evrything was correctly connected, and it didn't work yet...
So.... what? It means it's impossible???
Did you ever get this fixed? having the same problem!!!!!

So now I'm suddenly having this problem after years of it working fine.
Spotify is opened on my iMac, connected to my home wireless network.
Spotify is open on my iPhone 5, connected to the same network.
The "Devices" tab nor my iPhone are visible for sync. Firewall is wide open.
What could be the issue?
This is maddening for a $10 monthly subscription. The recent updates of Spotify and iTunes also wiped out all my local files in Spotify -- some 17,000 links! I had to set things up from scratch.

The new version of the destkop app doesn't have a devices section. The devices section will be coming back in a future update.
In the meantime:
You won't be able to see an indication in the desktop client that the device is paired with the desktop client. But as long as they both are on the same WiFi network you should be able to trigger the local files sync by toggling the offline toggle on the playlist on your device.
