Temporary fix for sorting songs in playlists

Temporary fix for sorting songs in playlists

Hello everyone,

Since Spotify is taking their good time implenting the most simple function in a music player — Sorting of a playlist — I guess we, the users, have to work on getting around it. And I actually found a simple workaround:

Open up your Spotify on your PC/Mac and sort the playlist as you like it. Then select all songs, copy them (ctrl+c/cmd+c), then press delete and paste them back in again. (If you are paranoid, then paste all the songs in a text document first. They'll look like regular Spotify links in text-form)

The songs will now be pasted in the order in which they were when they were copied. So when you open Spotify on your iPhone, they'll be sorted correctly, since they are sorted by date added.

I hope this helps some of you.

WARNING: THIS DOES NO LONGER WORK AS SPOTIFY ONLY ALLOWS YOU TO CUT OUT THE SONGS, BUT NOT PASTE THEM. SO TRYING THIS WILL EMPTY YOUR PLAYLIST WITHOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF RECOVERING!

Hi,

Thank you for taking the time to post your workaround but I'm on a Mac (OS 10.9.5) and I can't even reaorder stuff before all the copy and pasting.

It's driving me nuts. How do I do that? There is nothing happening when I click on a column, link or track. Nothing!

TIA

I don't think the web player has the option, since it seems to be based on the same code as the app. What you have to do is download the actual application for OS X.

Edit: I'm on OS X too.
