Unable to turn off shuffle (iPad, premium account)

Unable to turn off shuffle (iPad, premium account)

Plan

Country

Device

iPad Pro

Operating System

iPadOS 13.6.1

According to my iPad, the Spotify app hasn’t updated recently; however, the iPad itself did update last night to version iPadOS 13.6.1.

Trying to use Spotify today, the layout of the app is different to what it was yesterday, as though it’s been updated (see attached screenshot). The ‘now playing’ bar that was at the bottom has been moved to the side, and I can no longer access the currently playing queue or change the shuffle/repeat settings. The play button at the top right just reshuffles what’s playing. None of the sections you see on the screen can be expanded or opened in any way.

There’s no issue with the Spotify app on my iPhone or Windows desktop and laptop, just the iPad. My account is paid up and still listed as premium, so there should be no issue there.

I listen to a lot of musicals/audiobooks that just can’t be listened to on shuffle, so I’m really frustrated by this. I’ve tried force closing the app and uninstalling/reinstalling.

Any fixes please?

Hey there @Qulen,

Thanks for posting. Apologies for the delayed response, we just came across this thread.

Start off by running a clean reinstall of the app on the affected device since this will make sure you remove any corrupted files from previous installations and get the latest app version with all necessary updates.

It'd also be helpful to log in with a different Spotify account (such as a friend's or a family member's one) on your iPad to check if it's an account-related issue. If it works with another account, follow the steps in this Spotify Answer next.

Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.

Hi Ivan,

I did as instructed. Clean reinstall, logged in with a different account, and logged in with a different iPad.

No success. Please see the attachments, on iPhone you can see the button to turn off the shuffle. On iPad the button it is not there, exactly like the other user.

If you have a solution I look forward to read it, otherwise please refer this problem to the UI team.

Hey @andreomane,

Thanks for the reply.

Can you try clicking the Album Artwork on the left-hand side. This is supposed to toggle the Shuffle option on Ipads.

Let us know if that works 🙂

Hi Alex, thank you for your prompt answer.

The answer is yes,  I clicked the artwork, found the shuffle toggle, and turn it off. Now if I click on a single track, the next one will be the following track.

However the play button in the playlist remain setup shuffle, so to avoid the shuffle I have to play the playlist clicking directly on the track.

Hi @andreomane

Thanks for getting back to us.

At the moment, it's not possible to make this button play without shuffle. However, we really value your feedback as it helps inform our decisions going forward.

You can also have a look in our Idea Exchange to see if someone else has already made a similar suggestion. If there isn't one, you can give these steps a go and submit your idea so that other users can also support it. The higher the number of votes an idea gets, the more likely it is for it to be implemented.

If anything else comes up, we're always a message away.

Cheers!
