When using Connect I can't turn on/off Canvas

My Question or Issue

When playing over Spotify Connect I want to be able to turn on and off Canvas, but since it's within the Playback settings which are completely inaccessible when using Connect I can't. I understand that some settings might be impossible to change when streaming on another device but in that case please provide an explanation. Why can I not turn on/off Canvas on the phone while streaming through my connected speakers?

Please, give me as much control and/or information as possible about the ongoing stream in the Spotify app even if the stream is going through another device. Such as Canvas, Equalizer, Audio Quality, data rate, etc.
