Why can I select a track to play on the desktop app but not on my iPhone?  Can anyone explain this?  Makes no sense that I can do it on one but not the other!!  BTW... Free version...

Mobile versions of streaming apps like Spotify are often subject to different licensing agreements with the labels. The reasons for this are probably only known by the lawyers.

One of the restrictions imposed by the labels on Spotify is that Free users of Spotify on mobile phones cannot select individual tracks to play and need to play in Shuffle mode with other popular tracks included in the mix.

However, the labels seem to have exhibited some rare common sense here and agreed that tablets are not really mobile devices in the same way that mobile phones are and Free users on those can play tracks on demand (with adverts and not being able to save playlists for offline use being the only limitations).
