Why does not a linked album keep playing like previous versions

Why does not a linked album keep playing like previous versions

If I create a link for an album, previously if you created a link for the first song in an album it would keep playing the album until its end. Now if I link a song it will only play that song of the album then stop? Is this an intentional change or is there a way to make it work like before again?

Hey @Subi22,

Thanks for posting your question on the Community!

Sounds like you might be seeing one of the recently changes we made to the service. When linking to specific track in an album, you will be directed to the page of that song, and you may even see additional info about it, such as lyrics (if available).

However, if you still like to listen to an entire album, an option is to copy the link to the album itself. This way, when you open it, the whole album will appear for you.

We hope this clear things up! Cheers.

Thanks for your answer! What I’m trying to do is for the album to start playing as soon as you click on the link. This worked before when you linked to the first song. If you link to album you need to click play for it to start. Is there a way to make it play a whole album instantly from a link in the new version?

Hey @Subi22,

Thanks for getting back to us!

Just to confirm, are you using the app on a desktop device or on your phone? While the feature of automatic playback isn't available on desktop, the albums should still play when opening the link on a mobile device.

If you're using the mobile app, could you check if turning on Autoplay makes any difference? You can find it in the app settings > Playback. You can also try clearing stored cache from the app, and then log out and back in again. This action will resync your account info.

Shouldn't that do the trick, can you let us know what device and operating system you're using, so we can look into it further? Your current Spotify version would also be helpful.

We'll keep an eye out for your reply.

I tried doing what you suggested but that didn’t work.

Hey @Subi22,

Thanks for getting back to us.

We appreciate you taking the time to share this with us. We'll forwarded your report to the relevant team, however, we can't confirm when or if it will be addressed.

We'll work on improving the functionality, as Spotify constantly strives to refine the user experience.

In the meantime, please make sure to keep your app up to date with the latest version, so you don't miss out any important fixes or features.

Hope this helps. Take care 🙂
