Just to be clear, that 10k download limit mentioned by @McLachlan is split across up to three devices. The actual limit per device is 3,333. Unfortunately, this limit is due to Spotify's licensing agreements, so it can't be increased without a change in those agreements with the music labels.

You definitely shouldn't be hitting a limit at 1,000 songs though. Have you checked to make sure your phone has enough storage space available for more?
