Playlist interrupted by phone ringing

Shuffle turns off when connecting iPhone to car

I’ve noticed recently in updates that when I connect my iPhone to my car it turns off the shuffle feature on my playlist I was listening to. is this an intended feature or is this a bug? Extremely annoying nonetheless.
