iOS 17 StandBy Mode - Receiving Multiple Volume Change Notifications from S

iOS 17 StandBy Mode - Receiving Multiple Volume Change Notifications from S

Hello everyone,

I’ve been experiencing an issue with iOS 17's StandBy mode, particularly when using Spotify. Whenever I try to change the volume while in StandBy mode, I get bombarded with hundreds of notifications from Spotify. Each notification seems to correspond to the volume adjustment I’m making, but it’s overwhelming and clogs up the notification center.

Here are the details:

Device: iPhone 14 Pro Max
iOS Version: iOS 17
Spotify Version: 8.9.74.535
Issue: Changing the volume in StandBy mode triggers hundreds of notifications from Spotify about the volume change.
Steps to reproduce:
Enable StandBy mode.
Play music on Spotify.
Attempt to adjust the volume.

Hey @omercansabun,

Thanks for posting in the Community and we appreciate you sending over your device details!

In order to investigate the situation further, it'd be great if you could share some more info with us:

  • Does this happen if you're using the Connect feature to stream on another device?
  • Have you tried any troubleshooting steps so far?
  • Does this only happen in StandBy mode?
  • Does it happen via the volume buttons on your iPhone or even if you adjust the volume from within Spotify?

We'll be on the lookout 🙂

Hello,

Thank you for your response. Here’s the additional information you requested:

  1. Connect Feature: Yes, I am using the Connect feature to stream on another device (a connected speaker). I also tried this while using Spotify on my computer, where I was listening to music with headphones. My computer is running Windows 11, and the Spotify version is 1.245.454.0.
  2. Troubleshooting Steps: I have tried restarting both my iPhone and the Spotify app, but the issue persists.
  3. StandBy Mode: This issue only occurs when I am in StandBy mode. I don’t face this problem when the phone is in regular mode.
  4. Volume Adjustment Method: The issue happens when I adjust the volume using the icon at the top of the screen in StandBy mode on the Spotify interface. When I increase or decrease the volume using this icon, I receive a flood of notifications.

In the screenshot, the message reads:
"Do you want to change the volume? To adjust the volume on a connected speaker, use the volume slider in the Connect menu."

I’ve attached a screenshot showing the notifications for reference.

Looking forward to your feedback!

Additionally, I wanted to show another screenshot from my notification settings. As you can see, Spotify has sent 575 notifications in a short time, which is directly related to the issue.IMG_0434.PNG

Also, my phone has been updated to iOS 18 as of today. I will test the issue again, and if I can reproduce it, I will let you know.

Hey @omercansabun,

Thank you for keeping in contact.

We appreciate the info you've included in your response, along with the screenshots of the behavior. If you're able to replicate the issue after the iOS update you mentioned, we'd recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app as well by following the steps in this article

Hope this helps. We'll be waiting for your response.

Hello @OscarDC,

Thank you for your follow-up.

I have tested the issue again on iOS 18, and unfortunately, the problem still persists. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled the app following the clean reinstall instructions, but the issue remains, even after performing a clean installation.

Looking forward to further assistance.

Hey @omercansabun,

Thanks for keeping us in the loop!

As a new version of the app was recently released, could you double-check so that you're running the latest version? The current app version for iOS should be 8.9.76.

Cheers!
