My Question or Issue

All of the sudden the Spotify app will no longer connect to Xbox Series X. It says connecting but never finishes the connection and eventually times out. This was previously working for several months without issue. Outside of a Spotify app update, nothing has changed since this last worked (two days ago).

I have confirmed the devices are both on the same internet and my phone is able to detect my Xbox as a valid Bluetooth device. I have made sure there are no further pending updates for my device or app. I have tried to restart the devices and have even uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Not sure what else I can try at this point.

Have you reinstalled the app on your iPhone or the Xbox itself? 

I would recommend doing the following steps:

  1. Switch your router off for a couple of minutes and try the connection one more time. You could also try using a different internet connection, e.g. a hotspot from a mobile phone to see if that would change anything.
  2. If the issue remains and you've done a reinstall only on one of the devices - try both!

  3. Follow the steps from this article to connect your Spotify account to the Xbox app once more.
