Update: iOS update 0.5.9 has fixed the stability issues. Please update now and test it out.
The new iOS 0.5.8 update has killed the iPad app. Even after reinstall it constantly crashes. What's going on?
I'm running iOS 6.0.1 on the 4th generation iPad.
Spotify can't seem to get their act together...
New update also kills the people tab on the iPad.
When clicking on the people tab, friends are shown for a few seconds and then the list disappears.
This happens on every re-launch. There is no way to get the people list to show for more than 3 seconds.
Also after clicking on settings and clicking on a settings menu on the iPad, the settings back arrow is cut off at the top.
My music experience has been ruined by these bugs.
UPDATE:
I was able to use the app for a while -- notice the other bugs I found -- and after downloading playlists for offline use, the app started crashing.
Looks like downloading any playlist for offline use will constantly crash the app until you reinstall the app.
The most used feature on the iPad app constantly crashes the app?
What...? Updates need more testing before going live.
I would be happy to help test future updates.

the new version of the app on the iPhone 5 crashes every single time you scroll up/down any playlist quickly.

I've deleted/reinstalled the new version of the app with no success. It crashes EVERY TIME I try to open it.

A few other people have been tweeting me on Twitter.
Looks like I'm not the only one with the problem.

It crashes with in seconds on my ipad3. Not good.
Spotify iOS devs should have tested the update more before pushing it out.
Crashes for me on iPhone and iPad. Different iOS versions too... Come on Spotify devs. This is lame.

The Spotify app on my iPhone 5 crashes every time i scroll my playlist screen to the bottom. It works fine on my girlfriends iPhone 4 (with all her playlists/music)
A more detailed description, using numbered steps
1. Updated to the latest version of the Spotify app (0.5.8)
2. Open spotify, it shows my playlists screen by default (the bug only seems to affect this screen)
3. I scroll to bottom to see a folder and it crashes to home screen. If i scroll right to the bottom within a playlist, or within a folder containing no sub-folders, it works fine. The issue only affects the root Playlists view.

Look at this screenshot
If i scroll past this point it crashes. I can scroll as much as I like above that point.
Further to my previous post, before I deleted my playlists the crash seemed to happen somewhat as for 'thesimo' - the crash would occur when I scrolled down a certain point on my playlists. But now, having deleted my playlists, I get a crash anyway even without playlists.

6. App worked until I downloaded about 20 of my playlists for offline use
(a lot more were in the process of being downloaded)
It then started to crash upon opening.
When the app DID work for a short period of time, the people tab was full of glitches and the back button in the settings menu
had a disfigured back button. The top border was cut off.
7. and finally, I searched Twitter for users with the same problem and sent them the URL to this thread, told me they had same problem

Looks like downloading any playlist for offline use will constantly crash the app until you reinstall the app.
It seems the iPhone 5 app that was bundled into the 2-in-1 iOS app caused corruption to the iPad app.
Another thread with similar problems:
New information:
I have now reinstalled the app for a second time, and am now sometimes able to get beyond the log on page.
When I have got beyond the log on page I am able to search for and play tracks, however, the app still crashes as soon as I tap the Playlists option in the sidebar.
On restarting the app I have to log on again, and more often than not am not able to get beyond the initial page.
Thanks. Since your work, things are OK now for me at least - even without a further restart and reinstall.
Bigft: Can you please try again? I did some maintenance on your playlists, let me know if it worked 🙂
