iPod touch 2g keeps trying to load Spotify after I log-in

I have recently downloaded Spotify onto iPod touch 2G. I would like to thank Spotify team for leaving an older version available to run on such devices. Everything seems to have gone well except that after I log-in successfully I get a screen saying "Discover great music with your friends" and it just gets stuck with a circling star at the bottom. If I press cancel it goes back to the log-in screen. How can I solve this, please?

Spotify supports iOS 7 and up. 

While you can still use the older Spotify apps if you have them installed, they might not work since they are no longer supported. There could have been changes with the server on Spotify's end that are no longer compatible with the old apps.

Is it at all possible to listen to Spotify on such a device? If there are third party apps which anyone is successfully using I would be very grateful to know about them. I just hope I can make some good use out of my iPod touch 2g 😕

ATTENTION: I HAVE SOLVED THE ISSUE
I too was running an old IOS for the same reason and just spent an hour trying to get around that annoying Facebook issue. Go to Spotify.com on your computer or phone etc and link your account to a Facebook account that way. Now when you go to log into your old device, login using Facebook. It skips the find music with friends screen and works perfectly! If you do not have a Facebook simply set up a fake one for free very quickly.

For some reason it doesn't work for me..
Even if I log in with Facebook, it just tells me I've already enabled the use of FB and then continues to the same screen shown in the original question.
Are there any things I need to consider about the account or anything?

Update: I have no idea whatsoever how I did it, but after alternating between normal sing in and the facebook one for about 10 times it miraculously worked (after receiving the '404 error' 3 times)
