Hi there,
I'm trying to download spotify onto my 4th gen ipod touch - granted, its an older ipod but still fully functional. my wife has the exact same ipod, and has spotify premium on it. when i try to download the app i receive an error telling me that i must have ios 7.0 installed in order to download spotify. didnt think much of it, hopped over to the general tab to search for an updated ios and loe and behold....there is no update. apparently 6.1.6 was the last update for this generation....so how the hell does my wifes ipod have the spotify app on it? what are my options?
If iOS 6 is the latest version you can update to,
you will need to download the Spotify for iOS 6 app here:
https://itunes.apple.com/app/spotify-music-for-ios-6/id511889746?mt=8
It is likely she has an older version of the main app installed.
Hi MattSuda,
Ihave tried your link on an old iphone 3g (IOS 6.1.6), but not available in New Zealand... any other idea/suggestion? Maybe create a USA account?
Thanks,
Stephan
I can't download this app in my country. I live in the U.S. I also have an Ipod 4. Any ideas?
after so long i found it
I don't understand. What does itunes have to do with Spotify? How would downloading itunes on my pc enable Spotify to suddenly work on my ipod?
Hey @JWS31,
Unfortunately, the iPod Touch 4G no longer meets Spotify's System Requirements: https://support.spotify.com/article/spotify-system-requirements/
Spotify apparently does not work with iPod Touch 4th Generation, I have three of them and have tried all three. Music locks up at end of songs, locks up at begining of songs or goes to the next song and plays through song with no audio. No problem on my iPod Touch 2nd Generation or iPhone 5s but none of my iPod 4th Generation iPod's work correctly, I am selling all three and already ordered a sixth generation iPod Touch which I will return if Spotify doesn't work on it! I had planned on putting one iPod with each of my motorcycles and one with the car. I don't want to use the phone since I already had one phone fall off my motorcycle in 70 MPH 4 lane traffic in Atlanta, Georgia. I'll only put my iPods in my motorcycle phone holders! If only Apple would let us install older operating systems on our iPods I think we could get Spotify to work or if Spotify could address the issue. Apparently OS 6.1.6 is not compatiable with Spotify.
