keeps interrupting music, asking to stay on this device or switch to some other device I don't know

keeps interrupting music, asking to stay on this device or switch to some other device I don't know

I keep getting interruptions when I play Spotify on my iPhone, as if I were using it on multiple devices and switching between them.  The optiosn are "continue on this device" or "listen on ___." However, I've never heard of the some of the devices it asks me about.  I tried clearing all permission history from authorized devices and re-authorizing just my devices, but the problem keeps happening.  Help?!  Also is there a way that I can talk to real Spotify.  This is really frustrating if every minute it keeps interrupting my music and asking me to switch to another device.  Thanks

Hey @user-removed, welcome to the Spotify Community!

Could you try a couple things and then let me know if the problem still continues?

1) On Spotify.com, go to your Account page and change your password. While some users have said that this hasn't fixed their problem, it has worked in other cases.

2) Also on your Account page, there is an option that says "Sign Out Everywhere" which will disconnect you from all active devices. If you do this as well as change your password then the problem should disappear.

3) Another option is to go to the Apps tab on your Account page, here you can revoke permission from apps that want to access your Spotify account. If you see anything here that you don't trust, remove it from the list. I currently have 3 apps connected.

Please let me know if you still need further help 🙂

If you do use it on another device, you probably forgot to turn that device off before listening to you mobile phone. Or if you only use it on one device, there is a great chance you are not the only person who has access to your Spotify account. If this continues, however, you can just click on he second option that pops up, which is "Listen on this device" and that will allow the "other device" to stop playing music and instead play it on your device. Now if someone else has access, they can revert it again to play on their device, so it's best to change your password.

Thanks for the message.  I will try 1.  I already did 2 and 3, but will do them again.  The weird thing is that it is not just one other device, but I've seen it suggest at least a dozen different other device names to me?

@user-removed,

Very odd. Definitely do let me know if those steps don't solve the problem for you, this may need some extra attention 🙂

I can't find where to change my password.  I'm logging in through facebook apparently? @jacob_

@user-removed,

If you login with Facebook, you'll have to change your Facebook password 🙂

I've done all these things, revoked all access, changed all passwords.  There was some email listed under my family sharing that I'd never heard of.  I still have devices listed in my list that I dont recognize though, particulary a chromecast.  How do I revoke this?

Thanks!~

@user-removed,

At this point, all you need to do is get in contact with Spotify support and they can take a look backstage. The easiest way to contact them is by messaging SpotifyCares on Facebook or Twitter. They usually respond within 48 hours!

Please let me know if you need help with anything else 🙂
