music not downloading to apple watch despite having all the latest software and accounts

music not downloading to apple watch despite having all the latest software and accounts

I have an iphone 12 and apple watch 4 both running the latest IOS. I also have a premium account with spotify

I have selected the download to watch on my iphone app. I go to my watch, I can see in the download section the playlist I have selected. Except its hanging and just reads '1 of 29 downloading ......' , nothing is happening, nothing downloading and the text is greyed out

Both phone and watch are charged and I have even tried to do it on power.

Any ideas ..... ?

I have the same issue m, I even tried with a 3 song playlist but nothing is happening…

Hey folks,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community, and welcome 🙂

Would you mind sending over a picture where we can take a look at what you're seeing on the watch? You can attach it using the Insert Photos option in the post editor.

It would also be helpful to have the exact OS version running on your devices, along with the exact Spotify version you're currently running. This will help us investigate further.

We'll keep an eye out for your reply.

Now that both devices are on the same WiFi it works!

Hi @thorogoodies

Thanks for this info.

Just to confirm, have you tried reinstalling the app on your watch?

You could also give it a try using a different WiFi network just to see if you notice anything new.

Let us know how it goes.

I’ve tried several networks and re installed both the app on my phone and watch

Hey @thorogoodies

Thanks for getting back to us.

We'd recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app on your phone, making sure that you delete all cache from Settings.

In addition to this, we recommend reinstalling the app on the watch one more time and restarting your router before trying again.

Keep us posted.

Sorry, none of that has worked. Still hanging or failing

Hey @thorogoodies

Thanks for keeping us in the loop.

If none of the steps suggested so far helped with this issue, we recommend getting in touch with our friends from the customer support team. You can choose how to contact them here.

Make sure you ask the support team to check if there's corrupted data accumulated on your account. If they manage to locate such, they can help you with cleaning it up.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any questions.

I'm also having the same issue.

I had the same problem when the feature appeared on my Spotify iPhone app today. Following this thread, I decided to do a clean install of the app to try fix it. Now the feature has disappeared!

Any idea on next steps?

The download seemed to kick in when I streamed the playlist directly from Spotify on my Apple Watch... not sure that's meant to happen. It does seem a little buggy, not doing what it should generally.

Feature doesnt work.. Tried reinstalling app on watch, iphone, made certain they are on same wifi, tried rebooting bluetooth..

nothing works..

Did not try to reboot my router, because if Spotify asking to reboot my wifi is stupid suggestion.. It doesnt work.. So many users have told you by now.. fix the issue…

I followed your recommendation and it’s not even showing the option to download to Apple Watch anymore 😣

Hi there @viclins,

Thank you for your reply in this thread.

Your Apple Watch battery might be a bit too low to download. Can you make sure your Apple Watch is charged or on a charger to start downloading?

We also suggest that you make sure your Apple Watch is on and the Spotify app is open on your Watch. After a bit of time, your Apple Watch might suspend the app if you're not using it actively so be sure to keep it in focus.

If you can't relate to nothing of the above we suggest that you stream the playlist directly on the watch while downloading.

Let us know how it goes 🙂

Take care!

Live, love, laugh and listen to music 🙂

Thank you for your attention Jeremy.

I tried everything you mentioned above:

1) My iPhone’s and Apple Watch’s battery were 100%

2) I activated both screens inside the Spotify app for like 15 minutes. Nothing happened.

3) I played the playlist on my Apple Watch while the download was going on and nothing happened also

My iOS version is: 14.6

My Apple Watch version is: 7.5

My Spotify app version is: 8.6.40.1248

Thank you for trying to help.

I appreciate.
