not working when other apps open

so like im listening to something and when i open another app that also wants to play audio it stops playing and then refuses to start again?? it didnt do this a few months ago so whats going on?

• Is this on all devices or only on specific one(s)?
• When did this start happening exactly? Did it start happening right after a specific update?
• A video of the behaviour
