"Liked" songs no longer visible when viewing albums

"Liked" songs no longer visible when viewing albums

Since the new update, one of the most useful features on Spotify for me is gone.

Previously, you used to be able to look at an album and see which songs from a specific album were previously "liked" with a heart next to them.

I see that the heart has been completely removed, but there is now nothing in place.   Now, looking at any album, it appears with no markings as is.   So, all of the work previously done selecting specific songs from albums is not visible.

Please Spotify, I beg to bring this back.   You are taking away all the things that serious music listeners love about your app.  Attached, what an album used to look like vs. what it looks like now.

Hey @veganvadim

In March, Spotify replaced the heart icon with a plus in the Now Playing view in the Spotify mobile app. This change will come to other devices at a later time. This change also includes the icon showing if you've liked a track next to the title. According to the FAQ section in the post linked below, this feature is planned to be reimplemented.

hey there it looks like your playlist is not showing the heart on some of the songs.

the reason is that the heart is a plus now so if your on IOS you will experience the plus or if your on any computer device you will not have the plus problems but on any computer device you have to hover over the songs and it will show the heart and hitting the heart it will go green and will show without disappearing. the photos are the same song but what it looks like on the computer

to know on the IOS you can read this blog post about the IOS

i love seeing what i liked and didn’t like, not looking forward to that update, from what i can see all my favorite features are gone or destroyed

I’m convinced that there are designers and engineers who are solely tasked with making changes to the apps. Even if those changes are unwanted and don’t make sense from a UI perspective.

Hey there, Welcome to the Community!! 😉

thanks for responding to the community!

Yes, it is possible that Spotify has designers and engineers who are solely tasked with making changes to the apps. However, it is likely that the changes they make are based on user feedback and market research, and that any changes they make are intended to improve the user experience and make the app more intuitive and user-friendly. Therefore, it is unlikely that these changes are unwanted or dont make sense from a UI perspective.

Ya this update sucks I used to be able to go to an artist and then liked songs now it shows liked releases so I have to go in and out of albums to listen to the songs instead of having all the songs right there. Really annoying at work when I have no reception and want to switch albums. I’ve been using Spotify the same way for almost 10 years now it’s pointless I could just switch to apple music

Hey @veganvadim @GarrettStauss @hannahhofstede

Check out my walkthrough in the Spotify Community:

The ♡ Heart button is being replaced with a (+) Plus button

Hopefully this helps and gives you more information!

The ability to see which songs you've previously liked will return to track listings soon. (Playlist and Album pages) We don't know yet if this icon will still be a green heart. The team is currently working on making this experience better.

Hey @Lhill1224

It looks like you're talking about a different change than what is being discussed in this thread.

You can find more info about this change here:

This was one of the worst updates on Spotify recently. Not having the option of seeing the songs I've already liked doesn't make any sense. I just don't understand why I can't simply choose between having that or not. After all, as a premium user, I'm paying for this service.

I am having exactly the same issue. I am absolutely devastated about this problem. Why on earth won’t you allow us to open an album with the favorites being visible? It’s becoming impossible to use the iPhone App with this new feature. It’s like removing price tags from a price list. It’s so unintuitive. And there’s no way around it. Just wow …

This post is from march. Allegedly, "the ability to see which songs you've previously liked will return to track listings soon." I've been seeing that since February-ish and it's OCTOBER now.

I have had this issue off and on since FEBRUARY!! It is sooooo frustrating to open an album or playlist and have no clue what I have already liked.  It is especiialy frustrating when searching for new music on a new playlist, or when playing the discover weekly playlists because it is impossible for me to tell what I have already liked by looking at the playlist.  I have to go into my own liked songs and see there if I already have something like, or like the song again only to have the playlist menu pop up.  BEYOND FRUSTRATING.  The worst part is there were 2 times my like icons came back to playlists and albums,. but were subsequently taken away AGAIN.  I can't believe I have been dealing with this horrible issue all year.  It's insane.

If this is a new feature, why is the experience not unified across all devices? For example, on my Desktop I can still see liked songs if any in as album/playlist as opposed to when on mobile! Cherry on top: this feature keeps appearing and disappearing as if with every other update!! Very close to just switching platforms.

I know right? 2 more weeks later and still nothing. I guess we have a different definition of what “soon” means. The inability to clearly see which songs I’ve liked and which ones I haven’t is a huge inconvenience and just makes things harder. I really hope they get around to this soon. And by soon I mean what all of us reasonably expect it to mean, which would be within the year.

Please help! My likes/hearts KEEP disappearing on my android phone. I've followed all the above steps, but every time I go back on the app, the hearts have disappeared again. They always appear on my desktop but not on my phone

I use LIKE as a way to tag tracks for building playlists. If I can't see a liked track in ALL playlists that contain that track, then this is FINALLY the one thing that will force me to END my premium membership. So far, I've adapted to all the other "improvements" that have made building playlists more "interesting".

Vote for "Additional Green Checkmark for Same Song on OTHER Albums"

Hey

any insight on whether this return of a visual “previously liked” indicator is still on the feature roadmap?

“The ability to see which songs you've previously liked will return to track listings soon. (Playlist and Album pages) We don't know yet if this icon will still be a green heart. The team is currently working on making this experience better”

I think it's back. I see it on my devices. Native Spotify client, all of my individual devices.
