spotify still uses cellular data even when ticked off

My Question or Issue

To save data, I have spotify turned off under cellular settings so that it wouldn't use data. I didn't have any problem with this before until  when I checked my data usage today, spotify used 1gb of my data. How can this be possible if it's always been ticked off.

This could happen in case you've downloaded your songs and start playback with an active internet connection. The app tries to play the most up-to-date versions of the songs on our servers.

We'd suggest you turn on the offline mode in order not to use the cellular data. Here you can find more information about the offline mode.
