syncing music to ipod

Hi Guys,

I have two ipods (older nano and ipod mini). Both of them show up in the menu under devices and are correctly recognised (names etc) but playlists are not syncing to the device. Playlists have white arrow in the corner and it seems that process starts but is cut short and there is no music in the device after I eject it. My old itunes music is synced through spotify during the above process. Am I suppose to remove itunes files from spotify menu ( if that is possible ) ?

Note: You cannot sync songs from Spotify's catalog because the are encrypted for copyright protection. You can only sync local files.
