My Question or Issue

When I signed up for my account originally, I used my work email address. I want to change it over to my personal email address but when I try to do so, it tells me that that email is already connected to an account. I have never had my personal email address connected to Spotify. How can I get this corrected?

Hey there @LukeVee,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

If you're trying to update the email on your account, keep in mind you'll need to use one if it's not in use on another account. It is possible you have signed in accidentally to another account with your personal email.

In that sense, we'd suggest you go to password reset and enter your personal email there. When you enter an email that's registered with Spotify, you'll get a password reset message for that email. If you manage to access that account, you have 2 options:

  • You can delete it by following these steps. Once you've done that, you'll need to wait 14–30 days from the date of deletion for it to clear from the old account.
  • You can update the email there, if possible, to a third email address. That will make your personal email ready to be used on your original account, and you won't need to wait 14–30 days. We'd suggest you use an email you have access to and that is yours, so you can close that account to avoid further confusion. If you don't have any other email address, it's best to go with the first option.

We hope you found this helpful. Let us know if you need anything else.
